i got my own revision of a ken griffey, jr. trade. but it doesn't invlove maggs.

Sox would get:
Ken Griffey, Jr.
Sean Casey
Danny Graves

Reds would get:
Jeremy Reed
Joe Borchard
Kris Honel
Billy Koch
Paul Konerko

Is this not nearly worse than the last one?

That would be the worst trade the Sox have ever made.

life would get even more depressing (as hard as it is to believe) for every knowledgable Sox fan if that were to happen.

And I would become just another regular underage drinker :gulp:

Hey FWC, or someone. There should be a tag with a frown face drinking as well as the smiley face.

That's quite an understatement.

Didn't we go ape**** around here when KW traded two good prospects for Everett? You're proposing we deal pretty three of our best.

I wouldn't do this trade if they threw in all the tea in China. Reed is an especially prominent prospect and probably the next generation of Mags or CLee, depending on who signs on for reasonable money long term.

I would only pull the trigger on this trade if I.... hmmm..... under what circumstances would I feel like damning both the major league roster and farm system in one fell swoop???? Oh, ok, I would make this trade only if I was incompetent. Thats it.

No - we are in the business of young and cheap.

If they throw in D'Angelo Jimenez it's a deal!

Well if you could get the Reds to throw in Kearns......

Mags for Grif and Kearns.

That would be horrible. But it won't happen cause the Sox aren't gonna take on three big contracts and only give up Koch and Konerko as money makers. And to throw in top prospects is just foolish.

Now if you switch Griffey with Austin Kearns and Adam Dunn...now were talking.

I checked with a person in Cincy who covers the Reds and he said this was the first time he heard the rumor and that he would be really surprised if the Sox would want to take on Junior's and Casey's contracts.

I believe Champs said in the thread starter that this was his own revision. Unless Champs is KW himself, then this would be only a fan thinking aloud.

I am sorry, but I must be missing your point. I assume you are just defending the right of every Sox fan to dream over the winter?

One can dream, but there are certain dreams that don't need to be shared with others. It's those unrealistic dreams that cause one to wake up and change the sheets.

If I had started a thread for every wacky idea I had for what to do with this team I'd be booted off.
