One of the guys I was hoping the Sox would go after this off-season, Pat Hentgen, signed with the Blue Jays today. (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1664563) He got a 1 year, $2.2 million deal. That's a little more than I would have guessed he'd get in terms of annual salary.

Hentgen would've been a nice pick up. I hope Kenny doesn't sit waiting on another blockbuster and not make smaller, but more key, signings. He better get starter sooner than later.

Pat Hentgen sucks a lot. I would have been very disappointed had he ended up on the South Side.

He would have been a nice back of the rotation guy but you can get those guys for cheaper then 2.2 million.

Was it his 4.09 overall ERA that sucked so bad? Or his 3.10 post-All Star break ERA in 13 starts? Maybe his .216 BAA after the all-star break? Of the fact that he allowed only 150 hits in 160 IP? C'mon - the guy was hurt for two years. He was finally healthy last year and although he started last year slowly, he was phenomenal in the 2nd half. He would have been a real good pick up for the back of the rotation.

Pat Hentgen was the quintessential Baltimore Oriole acquisition. Well, maybe after Albert Belle.

Which has NOTHING to do with him signing with either Toronto or the White Sox short term and for cheap.....He will pitch better in a way that suggests a value higher than his price tag .

Whats the problem?
