Little Matsui has decided to try to secure a contract and play in North America next season.

He'd look great in a White Sox uniform. Great speed, base stealing threat, switch hitter, plays second and short. Not great power but a good on-base guy. Solid defense.

Oh!! Thats right, the dominant opinion here seems to be that speed and defense win no games. Guess the yanks will sign him when they dump Soriano on the Sox.

It's not that they win no games, it is that they are less important than other factors.

Sounds like a "grinder" that KW said the White Sox Organization would be seriously pursuing.

Do the Sox have a scout in Japan?

Folks:

It's not an issue of small ball vs. big ball. The Sox claim they don't have money so how are they going to come up with what's needed to sign him?

Exactly. It doesn't matter if the guys is a clone of Ichiro or Barry Bonds. Either way they won't sign him unless he wants to play for under 2 million...

However, we love the getting on base part of the equation.....if you just want a guy with speed and defense.. we had a guy like that in the minors(actually probably 700 guys like that)

If speed and defense was the alpha-omega of the game, we would all have Mckay Christensen posters on our walls
