This is a weird move. He managed last year in the minors but his team had a horrible record.

I wouldn't say the record of a low level minor league manager has much correlation to his skill as a 3B coach. Frankly, this is a nonfactor to me. If Ozzie is comfortable with Cora, I'll take him. Until he starts to look like Kim out there.

True dat!

Another thing; he needs a confidant that he can bounce ideas off of a feel he's getting candid opinions. I'm sure he needs at least one person on his staff who is loyal to him.

I love this. Cora was one of my favourite players. I liked the way he played hard. It's going to be very hard for these players to play corpse ball this year.

Well, now we have Cora and Guillen and Thomas is still around. Should we start taking bets on when Karkovice will be named the new BP catcher???

Then we'd just need to find a place for Raines, Lance Johnson and Ventura...

...and then I noticed that it's already been mentioned in another thread. Sorry 'bout that.

Joey Cora hit in front of both Frank Thomas and Ken Griffey Jr. when Thomas and Griffey were having monster seasons in the 1990s. I have also been told by people who knew Joey when he was breaking in with the San Diego Padres system that he had to show a lot of guts to make it to the big leagues.

He goes way back with Ozzie Guillen, of course. They both had to take English lessons in Yuma, Arizona, when they came up with Padres, who trained there.

To be honest, I am just having fun listening to the interviews on the radio and trying to figure out what Joey and Ozzie are saying. :?: :gulp:

He finished the season at AAA Buffalo, Tribe farm team.
At one point he was batting ~.340. I don't know what his final numbers were but, he was powdering the ball fo the 6-8 weeks he was here.
This is further proof to me that minor league pitching is eons away from mlb pitching and hitting numbers can be bogus.

I vote Dan Pasqua for hitting coach.

As for cora, plenty of terrible major league players have become good coaches and managers, so we'll see.

Tim Raines would be a good first base coach :)
