Loaiza was voted comeback player of the year, not that it was much of a surprise.Comeback Player of Year (http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb_news.jsp?ymd=20031105&content_id=599352&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp)

Cheers to Loaiza! :gulp:

May he achieve the same (or better) numbers in the 2004 season.

Good news, Loaiza definitely earned the award.

That article also has this quote: "Toronto Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay captured the American League's Outstanding Pitcher award, by helping keep the Jays in the postseason race for most of the season."

Since when does keeping your team in the "postseason race" until the last week in June justify an award?

Hopefully Loaiza blows his arm out next year, so he can reclaim his trophy in 2005.

What ever happened to teal?

mrkarno,

Don't you think teal is...kind of implied in some statements?

It's lame to use it every time. Pointing out that you're being sarcastic ruins the sarcasm.

Not to take anything away from Loiaza's great year, but if he was never any good before how could he win comeback player of the year?

If you have never gone anywhere, why would you win comeback player of the year?

If anything, he should have won breakout of the year.

How do we think this affects his chances at the Cy Young? Any at all?

Yes, but not using it when asking for a major injury on any athlete (let alone one of the Sox starting pitchers) merely makes you look like an ass.

I agree with Daver...

I don't think Loaiza was hurt last year. He was just bad, and became a stud. If that's the case, he got this award because he really deserved some kind of award, no matter what it was.

I take it then that you would have preferred Frank to have won the award?

If so, then welcome aboard!
