I would LOVE to have this guy on my team anyday. Whenever you hear talk about the Jeters, Nomars, ARods, Renteria, etc....ya never hear this guys name mentioned with the premier shortstops. I wouldn't be opposed to finding a suitor for Maggs and his $14M salary (Nick Johnson & Soriano hopefully) and sign Aurilia. The hole in right then possibly with Jose Cruz Jr. I know Aurilia probably isn't going anywhere...but.

you haven't read my analysis of Soriano. See it under "Dont trade for Soriano" (qv)

You heard that in 2001, when he had a fluke year. You don't hear that kind of talk anymore. He's a .270, 15 homer, so-so defense kind of guy.

I'd take Valentin over him. At least he can hit lefty.

You never hear Renteria's name mentioned with those premiere shortstops either.

That's not a bad name, though I wouldn't put him in the list of premier shortstops. Playing half his games in the Cell, hes probably a 20-25 homer type guy if healthy. Hes a good clubhouse guy and I would say he definitely fits into KW's grinder type player. If Jose is gone, I would say Aurilia would be a good replacement. After Matsui and Tejada, Aurilia is probably the next best FA shortstop.

The list of FA shortstops is so unimpressive. I think the best option is to stick with Valentin

Give me Aurillia over Manos. I can't live with a .240 hitter out there at short.

Ummm/.....I fail to see how the two are mutually exclusive
