I know the game doesn't start for another hour and a half, but I just wanted to get things started.

However, tonight could be Roger Clemens' last start, hopefully Carl Pavano and The Marlins can put "Old Rocket" to sleep!

GO FISH!!!!!!

P.S. When the Marlins are done with him, can we have Pavano on the south side?

True, Derek Jeter did not run and that was a dumb decision, but Gonzalez' transfer was probably the quickest I have ever seen.

And the Marlins come to bat in the bottom of the first, scored tied 0-0.

10-22-2003, 08:36 PM
It was a gorgeous doubleplay, but how the hell does Jeter not run in that situation? If the ball is hit anywhere near fair territory, you run. I don't care if it's a pop-up, flyball, groundball, squibber, whatever...you run.

Matsui was clearly out.

Rapuano has had a couple of close plays tonight and has gotten at least one of the two wrong.

Meanwhile, Yankees have men on first and second with no out, and the tying run in Posada at the plate.

Now, a ball off Pavano leads to a base hit by Posada.

Even with a gift call and a couple of suspect defensive plays going in favor of the Yankees, Pavano pitches over it and gives up one run despite the bases being loaded with no outs.

Just a few comments, here.

Am I the only one who is getting pissed at Pierre swinging way early in the count and hitting easy, one-hoppers to SS and 2B?

Do not pitch Matsui away, as he nearly came up big in... I believe, it was the third inning. Bust him inside a little and if he beats you there, he beats you there. It'll be interesting to see how he's pitched his next at bat.

This game has been very, very long.

The Marlins infield defense is dynamic.

Lastly, and the most off-topic... For anyone who knows what I'm talking about, does the Hummer commercial they've shown a couple of times remind you of the Royal Guardsmen singing?

Just pondering and wondering.

Delucci pinch-running for Posada.

Yankees have men on the corners with two out and the go-ahead run at home plate in the pinch-hitting hands of Ruben Sierra.

Urbina starts the at bat off with a 2-0 count. The count goes to 3-0. And, a generous outside pitch is called for a strike.

On the 3-1 count... A pitch a bit closer to the plate also called for a strike.

Full count... The pitch... Fouled off... Full count again... The pitch... Another foul.

Full count... The pitch.... A base hit into the RF corner... Two runs score and Sierra's triple ties the game up at 3!

Unbelievable. Why is Ruben Sierra still playing? And he's getting game tying hits whilst one strike away from losing a world series game. And just what they needed to, right down the line. Any other team would've gotten just a base hit at most.

God I wish the yankees would just go away. You know how they say "well, they're not gonna just lay down." Well, why not? Give it a try.

I missed some pitches. Was the pitcher getting squeezed at all during the top of the ninth? I'm not quite willing to bestow "clutch" upon the Yankees hitters without a bit of help from the homeplate umpire. That goes double for Ruben Sierra.

No. If anything, with Sierra at 3-0, the ump called 2 straight strikes that looked outside to me, and then Sierra fouled off 2 more non-strikes after that. The ump helped Urbina.

Urbina just couldn't find the freaking strike zone. Very un-clutch.

You walk a pinch-hitter to set up a double play. Man, that's a gutsy move.

Boone up and Looper coming into the game.

Looper is wild and relieving with the bases loaded... I won't even say anything...

The question is, though, before knowing the results of the move...

Is bringing in Looper after loading the bases by walking a pinch-hitter to get to Boone the right move?

HAHAHA!

Something tells me that's Weaver's last pitch as a New York Yankee.

Gonzalez' shot cleared the 330 foot mark by all of four feet.

What a game... What a game...

I wonder if Miami resident Mágglio Ordóńez is at the game. He should be proud of fellow countryman Sea Bass for hitting the GW-WO-HR.

Yowzah! What a game!

Jeff Weaver's about to find out what happens to Yankee recruits who do not please Mad King George.

TO THE RACK WITH HIM!!! BRING ME THE NEXT FREE AGENT!!!

God, I'd hate to play for the Yankees. Except for the millions of dollars part, of course. That would be cool.

Go Fish, for you are not the Yankees.

I just got back from seeing Shonen Knife at the Abbey, fully expecting the Marlins to have coughed up the game in the 12th or later.

WOOHOO!!!

Jeff Weaver, say hello to my little friend, the unemployment line!!!

:gulp:

I missed the game, but this morning ABC Radio reported that Alex Rodriguez hit the walk-off home run. What's the deal?

And if it was really Alex Gonzalez who hit the home run, shouldn't Cubs fans be happy?
