Pg 3 of the Metro section in the tribune today has a photo of the seats being removed in the upper deck and a small blurb.

I found a guy at work with the Cubune. Tiny picture and it's black and white. You can't see much.

Forgot the exact quote but I got the impression that the project would be completed in two phases, phase one this off season, phase two next off season.

There is also a small blurb in the Sun Times with an official comment from Scott Reifert.

Major things will be going on next month.

Looks like the arched windows are definitely in the plans.

The small thing in the Suntimes (which basically doesn't actually confirm anything) is at http://www.suntimes.com/output/rapoport/cst-spt-rap14.html

Anybody have a link to the tribune story, or at least a copy of it so they can say if it actually confirms anything, or if it just lists rumors?

In the trib it's just a photo with this blurb "Seats are removed at U.S.Cellular Field on Monday in preparation for decreasing the size of the upper deck for the 2004 season. That and work planned for the 2005 season is being paid for by the sale of
the stadium's naming rights."

It's not a story and probably isn't online.

I couldn't help but think as I read the blurb in Ron Rapoport's column that all he did was called the White Sox PR for a response to all the talk that's been going on on this web site. He didn't add anything to what we've already been saying (and seeing) for ourselves.

So good job people. We've outreported the Sun-Times (which isn't all that difficult at times).

Anyone else notice that section 540 is right behind the Third base dugout in the upper deck? That is a LOT of rows.

Sure looks like my All-Star game seat is history!

34rancher, it looks like only the top 8 rows. I'm not sure what the section number has to do with it. My guess is that they're yanking the top 8 rows (or so) from Sections 505 - 555, plus or minus.

:gulp:
