I missed it, did a fan throw something into the Boston dugout?

"This just in to the NBC 5 newsroom, a White Sox fan in Oakland threw something into the Boston dugout."

A piece of a bat from a Boston on deck hitter is what went into the dugout. No attack.

Meanwhile, this is shaping up to be an intense pitching duel.

He didn't do anything we don't see on a regular basis these days. I couldn't understand *** Steve Lyons was talking about. A Sosa bunny hop - which is a regular occurance - is much more unsportsmanlike behavior.

All Manny did was walk slowly out of the box, and point to his teammates to pump them up. Involving your teammates in that manner is not showing up the other team. I'm very interested in hearing what these announcers will say about Sosa's hop after a 7th inning solo home run with his team down 8 runs.

Every time I see Shammy's Cork Hop I curse the fact time travel isn't possible and we can't put a young Bob Gibson on the mound for his next at bat.

Or let him face Vida Blue,he'd get a pitch right in the nads...............

I was amazed how quickly Steve Lyons went from "Look at the passion Manny is showing in this big game!" to "This is a dark day in baseball history!" after Brenneman found fit to call Manny out on his actions.

Lyons is such a tool.

How about that collision? Ack.

And Johnny Damon wouldn't cut his hair because, and I quote, "it's too pretty".

He'll need more than hair gel to patch that back together.

Wow, another horrible call from Steve Lyons. When talking about the A's fan yelling at Damian Jackson, Lyons said some fan might have throw something at the BoSox. Nothing was thrown, all the fan did was taunt Jackson and the BoSox.

And *** is with security at ballparks now. I saw a cop had his arm around the yelling fan's throat (a fan who didn't overstep his bounds as a fan) while the fan just put up his arms in the air as if thinking, 'Why the F is this cop choking me?'

I'm sure he said something dirty to the injured Jackson, but that's not cause to physically attack or eject a non-threatening fan.

Frank Menechino reminds me of one of the seven dwarves. He can't run, either...what the hell was Macha thinking? That wings would grow outta his ass and he'd be able to steal...? And I thought the A's would be an appropriate surrogate team to root for...

As much as I like the A's, they haven't advanced in the postseason since...since...well, they haven't succeeded in situations like these. Things look dim, kind of like Rich Harden.

It's a terrible thought, but I was kind of hoping they would show the fans at Jillian's after Damon was knocked out cold.

Man, you gotta kinda of feel for A's fans. They get the tying and winning runs in scoring position and their season comes down to the AB's of Adam Melhuse, Chris Singleton, and Terrence Long. Yuck!

In addition to losing Mulder due to injury and Hudson after one inning yesterday. I like the A's a lot. I was rooting for them. Too bad.

Yeah, still they never should have let it get this far. If Eric Byrnes bothers to actually notice that the ump made no signal and tag home, the A's may have wrapped the series up Saturday night. Thats a shame for the AL Braves.

Too bad the A's lost -- after they kept showing those shots of BoSox fans at Jillian's, I suddenly decided that it'd be great to see the privileged, Flubbie-esque fans of the other Sox go down in flames.

Still, great game. And Derek Lowe: balls of titanium in the 9th tonight. Wow.

Hmmm....I wonder what A's fans think of Keith Foulke now, especially after the Game 4 meltdown. Apparently that was their last real chance to win and advance.

Don't blame it on Foulke -- blame it on space cadet Byrnes and the idiot Tejada for not tagging home plate and not running out a run in game 3.

A's should have been resting the last 2 days.

On the lighter side, my trash talking A's fan employee, who was really dishing it out today, was at the game and is now getting trash talked via work pagers from my Gain'ts fan employees. I'm getting copied on all the pages. This is hysterical. :D:

Viva Magglio

Well, so much for my prediction that the A's would advance. Obviously, the turning point was Byrnes' base-running gaffe. I wonder how the presumably Tejada-less 2004 A's will fare next season.

So, show of hands: who here is already completely sick of the BoSox/Flubs hysteria? Not only am I not watching the NLCS (at least until the Flubs have 3 losses and are down with less than 3 outs remaining), but I'm going to have to have the mute button handy during the ALCS, thanks to this unfortunate development. Fox simply *cannot* go without mentioning this "historical" "curse" angle for more than 10 minutes.

Nope, not gonna happen. For real, I am done with NL baseball for 2003. Instead, I've got a ton of books on the shelves that need to be read, so I'll start up on those.

For real.

That will probably make me ever more depressed.
