View Full Version : *Official* Braves - Evil Empire NLDS Game 4

Go Braves!

cheeses_h_rice
10-04-2003, 05:04 PM
Hey, with no Fick and no Sheffield, the Braves actually have a chance today.

Now if only the Braves batters would swing at the strikes and take the balls, they'd be much better off.

cheeses_h_rice
10-04-2003, 05:10 PM
Btw, I went to a "pug crawl" at the YMCA at North and Halsted today, and it was Flubbie central there. Lots of very shiny new looking Cub hats and t-shirts were on display.

I did comment to the one guy I saw in a Sox hat how glad I was to see him.

Interesting to see how many "fans" the Cubs have, when they're one game away from advancing to the NLCS...

cheeses_h_rice
10-04-2003, 05:16 PM
Furcal psyches out Clement by showing bunt early, and Clement ends up throwing one away...sweet.

cheeses_h_rice
10-04-2003, 05:18 PM
Clement looks less than 100% confident out there -- gotta love that ****.

Viva Magglio
10-04-2003, 05:19 PM
Ortiz is an idiot. Now the Cubs will steamroll from here... :whiner:

cheeses_h_rice
10-04-2003, 05:19 PM
Heads-up baserunning by Ortiz there.

You dumb POS.

cheeses_h_rice
10-04-2003, 05:19 PM
When I see those "humorous" Flub fans doing the tomahawk chop, I just want the Braves to unload with 12 runs in the inning.

cheeses_h_rice
10-04-2003, 05:21 PM
Why couldn't any of the Sox's opponents during the playoffs have played with their heads up their asses as much as the Braves have?

This is sickening.

cheeses_h_rice
10-04-2003, 05:25 PM
Chipper probably got a break there -- that pitch looked right on the edge of the plate.

C'mon, Braves, make him pay!

Viva Magglio
10-04-2003, 05:30 PM
Another tanked inning by the Braves.

cheeses_h_rice
10-04-2003, 05:32 PM
Ortiz really does have Jon Garland-itis.

Nibble nibble nibble...very frustrating.

Viva Magglio
10-04-2003, 05:38 PM
Fire Bobby Cox.

cheeses_h_rice
10-04-2003, 05:38 PM
Welp, looks like the Braves are going to need a Leon Durham Moment in this game to help them out...

cheeses_h_rice
10-04-2003, 05:43 PM
I finally had to mute my TV. The constant Cubgasms from the crowd are just too much to take today.

No, the Braves are going to spread their legs wide open and let the Cubs Fick them over.

cheeses_h_rice

Nice piece of hitting there by Castilla.

Men on 1st and 3rd, 1 out.

Sac fly will tie the game here.

Or, how 'bout a squeeze?

cheeses_h_rice
10-04-2003, 05:49 PM
Sweet! Tie game!

Come on, Atlanta. Give me something to cheer about. I need it after being at the Northwestern game today ('Cats lose to Minny 42-17).

Viva Magglio
10-04-2003, 05:56 PM
Here's a thought: Suppose the Yankees fail to the point that Torre gets fired. Think they would try to hire Dusty?

cheeses_h_rice
10-04-2003, 06:06 PM
And Furcal gets on base because of the threat of him bunting!

No outs, too!

Viva Magglio

The Cubs get out of it but not before a crooked number goes up on that board...

NOW DON'T LET THE CUBS COME BACK!!!!!!!!!!

OK, Fick was out. I was wrong.

Stupid, stupid play by Fick there.

Now Farnsworth looks hurt.

Yep, the accusations of "dirty play" will now overshadow the fact that the Braves were beating the Flubs 4-2 before that play happened.

Viva Magglio
10-04-2003, 07:30 PM
What a POS that Fick is. Now I'm afraid his dirty play, and it was a dirty play, will fire up a Cubbie comeback. If I were the first base umpire, I would have ejected that bastard.

That hop on the game ending fly-out shows just how much of a team player SamME is.

SamME is the tying run. SamME should be hustling to make sure he gets too 2nd. Instead SamME's concerned about making a good highlight reel.

Good points, all. Sure, if he knocks the ball out of the park, he's the hero he so desperately wants to be, especially after his mostly-poor showing in the NLDS so far. But man, if you're not 100% sure it's going out (and with his hit straight to center, that's probably not the case), you haul ass and try to get into scoring position to tie the game.

But he's Sham-ME*, and Sham-ME* only thinks of one thing: himself.

Damn right... I've gotten that line like a thousand times this week. My favorite, though, are when people find out I was born and raised in the city, the first thing they say is usually, "Oh, you're a Cubs fan," when I rarely venture anywhere without my venerable, now faded brown Sox hat.

Sigh... One more to end this nightmare, Atlanta. Don't **** it up.

You're exactly right. Be a player first, hero second. What is really tiresome is this is not first time Sammy has done his little hop for a non-homer. Other times he's out. other times he has to hump it to make it to second. Then people wonder we can't stand the stupid Cubbie tradition. GO BRAVES!

If the Braves lose this series I blame Fick. He will only give the Cubs that extra motivation for game 5.

"The play that happened with me and Karros had nothing to do with the (bleeping) game because the guy came up and hit a (bleeping) home run, so his arm must not have been hurt that bad."
