Bosox draw first blood in the 1st on Hudson, 1-0 might be enough for Pedro the way he's been pitching

1-0 Boston.

Rooney is doing the play-by-play on ESPN Radio. Where's Farmio? This Buck Martinez isn't talking about Notre Dame.

David Justice is very suited to radio. He fills in the commentary with many interesting insights into the game.

So West, you HAVE to be rooting for the White Sox West (aka the A's), don't you?

Me, I like both of these teams, and I can see good reasons for either to advance. But, if push came to shove, I'd prefer the A's if only to shut up the media about the Cubbies/BoSox angle.

A's have too many titles in recent decades to be the White Sox West ... nonetheless, I like em a heck of a lot better than the GammonSox, just cause I'm tired of hearin all the bellyaching curse of the Bambino BS, plus the GammonSox are heavy favorites with Pedro and their big sticks

plus, if the A's win, their attendance is so poor, we can buy ALCS and WS tix at field level here on the left coast the day they go on sale ... and I can drag West to the game

I don't like this Abremetrics stuff. When I was a kid you just watched Cap Anson play and didn't worry about funny statistics.

If the Red Sox win it all, we'll finally be cured of all this mythology crap. They'll just be the Angels or Marlins essentially, a team that has won the WS in recent memory. Oh, what torture for all those New Englanders whose only raison d'etre is how much they suffer at the hands of fate! They will be forced to live like normal people, and acknowledge that life can be good and precious, and not just bad and soul-sucking. And seeing those self-important whiners try to make that transition is worth it!

pedro gets the popup on pitch 130 with the bags loaded to shut down the A's 8th ... and the rest of WSI has gone to bed

Deadguy
10-02-2003, 01:06 AM
With all that pop in the Red Sox lineup, I was wondering what they were doing by sticking a guy with a .760 OPS in the #3 hole.

What a game by Todd Walker!

great discussion from the announcers on how the Sox management misplayed Fouke and screwed up their bullpen this year--how come everyone can figure this out but our GM and owner, well at least they finally got it

ode to veeck
10-02-2003, 01:18 AM
keith gets walker out for the first time tonight, and slowswing save's foulke's butt with a great catch at the wall

but the As still have work work cut out for them here in bottom nine

Now that he's gone, I guess the bad memories fade

... like JM throwing butter in a close game against the A's last year when he couldn't hit 80 on the gun

At least we know the As organization is not so stupid as to take Beane's espoused philosophy (take a walk and wait for a homer) too seriously.
