Still no outs and two on. What the hell is going on with the Braves? This is pathetic

Cubs have gotten major luck these last few days and weeks. That's not a good sign. Luck is very dangerous in the playoffs.

Why did this game begin an hour earlier than last night?

Anyway, great, great news that Hampton has no control his first inning.

I should have known this would happen.

Nice situational hitting there by Derosa...Braves with men on 1st and 3rd, no outs.

Let's get "Z" to melt down...

Win1ForMe

Well, Cubs got the first two runs but then had the bases loaded with no outs and couldn't even get a single run. How very Sox-like.

Hampton started off with two walks so let's hope he settles down for the rest of the game. Zambrano can be hit.

Oh, and of course the Cubs catch a brake with Giles out of the line up. More luck.

Good lord is Sheffield COMPLETELY WORTHLESS in the postseason.

WORTHLESS.

WORTHLESS. I don't know how much tighter that noose could get without him suffocating.

So most Flubs anti-fans would miss the Flubs stealing a run on a close play at the plate (nice block and tag not noticed by the ump)

Is that the only "luck" the Flubs had that inning? I noticed they stranded 3 again...

I don't even want to watch. Face it, even if the Braves can win tonight, they won't be able to beat Prior. Cubs may be lucky; they are also good. At least their pitching is. And we all know how the Braves take the pipe in the playoffs.

That wasn't luck, it took great FLUBBIE skill to blow bags loaded no one out on 9 STRAIGHT PITCHES

I still haven't seen that "potent" Braves offense they have. Meanwhile the Cubs got lucky on that 2nd run even on a bad baserunning move.

What's the name of that agent that got Hampton $100M+ from the Rockies? Hampton's nothing more than a glorified Greg Hibbard.

LOL. Just before I read your post, George, I muted the sound on my broadcast, since it sounds like a Flubs game if there's a scoring opportunity for the Flubs.

nice clutch hitting by Giles there, maybe this is a different Braves playoff team after all :-)

Giles with the nice clutch go-ahead single.

"Z" is rattled.

MRKARNO

GILES! 3-2 bravos

If they keep up this approach of contact hitting as opposed to power hitting, the cubs might have a MUCH better shot at losing

Cox is known worldwide for managing differently in the postseason than he does for the 162-game regular season schedule.

Obviously, it almost never works out for them.

cheeses_h_rice

And they're not going to pinch hit for Smoltz here?

Unreal.

Think Smoltz can get through the 9th? And if the game goes to extra innings, what do the Braves do?

cheeses_h_rice
10-01-2003, 10:01 PM
Well, if you're Bobby Cox and the game goes extras, you'd just use Greg Maddux as a reliever tonight.

:jerry

That's the spirit!

Brian26

Smoltz works the count all the way to 3-2 and then puts down a gorgeous bunt that maybe 3 guys on our team could do with no strikes? Geez. This guy is a player.

I'm not sure why Dave Veres was pitching in the 8th, but I'll certainly take it. Two more wins and this is all over.

cheeses_h_rice
10-01-2003, 10:53 PM
Has anyone here seen a Cubs fan say that they could possibly lose on Friday, with Prior starting?

It's exactly that sort of overconfidence regarding "sure things" that makes me think the Braves have a good shot of upsetting the applecart this weekend.

Cub fans ARE aware that the Braves had the NL's best offense this year, right?

Great point. I was wondering the same thing myself. But when your bullpen only consists of three guys (Borowski, Remlinger, and Farnsworth) you are kind of limited.

Did you see Bobby Cox's hat? That brim is perfectly parallel. He could serve food off that tray.
