86-76. Good but not good enough.

The 2004 season starts now.

The White Sox did two big things wrong: They got off to a horrible start, and they couldn't beat the Minnesota Twins.

1. Big guns not hitting well during the first 2 months.

2. JM not settling on a set lineup until 100 games into the season.

3. Not taking teams like Tampa Bay, Detroit, and KC seriously enough.

4. Getting complacent in games when they scored a lot in the first 1-2 innings.

5. Billy Koch being allowed to blow too many games.

6. The Neil Cotts Affair.

7. The Jose Paniagua Affair.

8. The Esteban Loaiza Flu Affair.

9. The GIDP Affair.

10. The last 5 games against the Twins.

All the above are key reasons the Twins will be playing on Tuesday and the Sox not.

Even though those 2 Twins series stick out the most I think the biggest decider in the division was our 11-8 record vs the Tigers and the Twins 15-4 record against the Tigers.

I like 'em, cheeses. I especially agree with the Big Three at the top of your list. Pretty much everything else (4-10) flows from the Big Three.

How can any team expect to compete when the first 100 games are treated like extended spring training? That's over 60 percent of the season! It is no coincidence that the Sox started playing better after Everett and Alomar came here, and it's no coincidence either that somebody in the front office told Manuel to cut the crap with line up changes in July, too.

The '03 Sox fought the first 4 rounds of this prize fight with one arm tied behind their back. All the other silliness that followed (like the Cotts Fiasco) simply finished them off.

Good riddins to 2003.

the cubs won just 2 more pathetic games than us, and that is why they are the greatest group of athletes ever assembled in the history of sport, and we don't exist
