dumb Cub fan at work

Cub fan here at work (who didn't like baseball last year) was at the game last night.

I heard him telling someone how "...so Carray gets up in the 14th -- says 'hey, 2 for the price of 1...lets get some runs!' and launches into another 7th inning stretch!!"

He was telling it like it was a great story and some kinda magical moment. The other guy was eating it up too...saying "Wow - that's great!"

No mention by either guy about the Cubs blowing the game with the 2 unforgiveably dumb baserunning blunders that flat-out cost them the game in the 10th...or the ball DeSheilds shoulda caught...or Sammy taking dumb swings at balls that almost looked like pitches you'd see during an intentional walk.

He probably doesn't even know any of that happened. To him (and many other Cub fans), it was probably just a tough loss that coulda gone either way, but it's okay cause (they think) the Cubs are still in 1st by a game or two.

This is the same guy who, on Monday, was asking everyone if they were "gonna watch the Cubbies tonight" even though they didn't have a game on Monday!

As long as the :beer is flowing and :shammy hits a zinger and :santo can keep telling stories of the glorious year of 1969 (when they choked) and :chimp puts on his happy face, Flub fans will be satisfied. Everything else is secondary.

Flub fans still think their team is in first place. Flub fans are even asking when playoff tickets will be on sale. *****! Its funny how flub games are pretty quiet until Sammy Sosa comes to the plate than everybody rises with their beer and cell phones in their hands drinking and gabbing while waiting for Sosa to slam a dinger ,and if he doesn`t they sit back down,yell at the beer men for more alcohol ,talk more on their cell phones,and don`t cheer until he comes back. When he does hit a homer they cheer like crazy,spill all of their remaining beer, than right away go get more beer,drink away, and once again talk away on their beloved cell phones until their superhero comes back.
