From the looks of things, this team is still flat. No score after one inning of play.

RKMeibalane

What does the crowd look like tonight? Was the team booed when they ran onto the field?

4 K's in 2 innings, yikes. Flat is right.

The way this team is playing, they might as well let me suit up and give it a shot. I guarantee you that I couldn't possibly be any worse.

RKMeibalane

This team is playing as though they expect to lose now. Jerry Manuel destroyed every bit of momentum this team had when he let Paniaqua pitch last week.

Game over. Drive home safely.

3-0 Royals, Sweeney jacks one.

So much for trying to win every game. Why is it that every time Jerry Manuel opens his mouth, bad things happen?

Kenny Williams destroyed this team after he put Paniaqua in the bullpen after Manuel told him that he didn't need him.

Nice Jose. Where was that the past three days?

This team sucks.

It was still Manuel's decision to use him, just like it was Manuel's decision to give that worthless piece of **** Royce Clayton playing time.

KW has at least tried to put a winner on the field. Manuel can't make that claim.

I'll tell you something even worse... my braut just burst (trying to grill and follow the game).

The twins are going up against the tough Right-hander from Detroit, Jeremy Bonderman (6-18).

RBI single by Alomar. Why wasn't this guy playing the other day when the team was in dire need of some offense?

That is bad. I hope you can find something else that's good to eat.

Maybe Detroit feels sorry for us and has decided to give their future ace a shot at beating Minnesota.

Finally! Frank ties it up with a double to right.

Nice show of resiliancy by the Sox. Now, they need to keep it going.

RKMeibalane

Valetin got greedy right there. No reason to try stealing third with two outs. He could easily have scored on a base hit.

Bad move, Jose.

Buehrle seems to have settled down nicely. Come on Sox. At least make these games interesting, even if they don't mean much anymore.

2 doubles for Frank? Did he miss the flight from Boston and just now catch up with the team? It sure wasn't the same guy in Minnesota.

Frank looks like he's made an adjustment. Let's hope he keeps it going.

Thomas has made an adjustment- the pressure's off.

I'm inclined to say that about any number of these Sox, excepting a few.

I'd have to agree with that. But remember, the Sox no longer have the ultimate garbage-time player...

He was dealt with before his account was even activated.

Another victim of the fastest gun in the FarWestChicago tally.

Rowand in for defensive purposes. That means that Willie Harris will probably pinch-hit for Carlos Lee, so his feelings aren't hurt.

You know, Frank has talked a lot about how much more comfortable he feels at Comiskey because he has the opportunity to hit in the cage between at bats. The numbers would indicate this is true:

2002:
Home OPS -- .962
Road OPS -- .706

2003:
Home OPS -- 1.039
Road OPS -- .821

So would a smart manager possibly DH Frank for home games and play him at 1B on the road, thus making his best player and most dangerous offensive threat happy in both places?

:jerry
"Yes, a smart manager might do that."

It was only 3 straight days. What's a 3 game losing streak?

Just got back from the Cell.

Amazing what a couple of well-timed clutch hits will do, eh? Turned a not-so-ace Burly performance into a Sox win.

Great game by Frank, and nice to see Maggs and Jose knocking the ball around.

I take it the Twins won tonight, based on them being up 5-1 in the 8th. Oh well.

At least the Sox aren't tied for 2nd tonight.

Congratulations to the 2003 Chicago White Sox.

With 81 wins they have guaranteed themselves a non losing season.

Yea.... (Hey it's all we have left to cheer for isn't it?)

Can some one trade A-Rod to the Tigers for a couple of games this year?

It's nice to see the Sox at least try to win some games after one of the most horrible series I've ever seen. I hope I'm wrong on this but these last couple of series could fall under the category "Too little to late".

Short gameday thread. I guess quite a few people lost interest. Just got back from some high school football action and was pleased to see a win.

I was there before the lineups exchange, but the majority of the people didn't come on time. The park was not filled, but not empty. 32,800 came through the gates eventually.

When the Sox took the field - there was a mixture of cheers and boos. I was sitting in LF - within earshot of Carlos Lee. I didn't boo, cuz he certainly doesn't deserve to be booed. But the right field side, over by Mags and Paulie) had a lot more booing.

The crowd got into the game...as the sox took the leads in both the 3rd and the 6th/7th, they really were into it. It was a shame this game was totally meaningless, cuz it would have been a lot of fun.

I was at the game...I still didn't get this...Was that a straight steal? Why would you do that with two outs? That's bad bad baseball, isn't it?
