Makes a case for Foulke at least being the MVP of the A's this year - a playoff team.

I still think closers are over rated though.

Ummm... no. The last reliever to win any kind of MVP award was Dennis Eckersley, and that was because he was far and away the most dominating closer in the game of baseball. No one even came close.

Foulke isn't anywhere near as good as "the Eck" was in his prime, and besides, there are plenty of offensive players who deserve the award more.

MLB.com is just trying to make the Sox look bad again. I think that someone like Eric Byrnes or even Ramon Hernandez deserves the award.

Of course, the Sox are doing a pretty good job of that themselves.

It definitely helps playing for a team that gets to the ninth on top.

Funny thing is, the A's play so well as a team that Foulke is about the only one you can single out for performance.

AL MVP - No way
A's MVP - Sure, why not?

You need to actually read the article. Actually it is on the A's portion of the MLB site so you only get it if you read the A's notes. The quotes from Beane are funny. He says Foulke is the best closer and the best since Eck. Funny. It will even be funnier when he trades him in the offseason as he will most likely do.

Foulke is a free agent after this season, and Beane will end up with another first round pick. But hey, at least we got Koch! And he's not a free agent after this season!

By the way, anyone remember this article?

Scroll down to the Foulke part. I especially loved this quote (used it in my sig:

Keith Foulke rules. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise

Way to go, "Team MVP" Kenny Williams!
