View Full Version : 2 Games - 1 Walk....

The only walker being the team's best hitter, Maggs. In a microcosm, that is the problem with this team - lack of real skill with the bat. Thus, we continually go through hitting slumps and really can't hit good pitching.

No, we wouldn't have won with a couple more walks - but the point is that nearly everyone on this team swings for the fences. Yes, two or three times a year, Jose goes crazy and hits 2 or 3 out; otherwise, he checks in with a dismal .308 OBP.

Getting punked by Kenny effing Rogers does not a playoff team make.

On a related subject, retrospectively we can point to a lot of things that put us in this position, but I will point to going 7-7 against lowly Anaheim and Texas after we assumed the division's lead.

Bingo on the bat skill comment. You don't get men on base, you don't score ... one or two solo home runs weren't going to win this for us either. No one on this team has been patient at the plate this series, and that's why we've lost the first two games.

7-7 against Texas and Anaheim didn't lose this for us. Not showing up to play teams like the Tigers early on lost this for us.
