Argh, the tension! Fortunately, I can easily relieve that stress... :gulp:

It's been a while since a Sox game is a must see. The Sox are in control of their own destiny and this series is about as big as they come. The Sox always get up for big games and I think today is no different so let's go Sox and let's get some dang victories!

OK, OK, OK I admit it.. Well I should tell you that I have a tradition of putting my Sox hats on top of the TV before a game. I didn't do it on Friday before the BoSox series but got them their in time for the weekend. It doesn't always work but it feels like it does. So I command all Sox fans to put their hats on their TV's before tonites game. We need all the help and cynergy we can get!!! And get that dancin bannana out as well!!!

It's funny you say that, because I put my 2003 All-Star Game and 1993 AL West Champions (with corresponding Scott Petersen, White Sox greats and Frank Thomas 1993 MVP pins attached) hats on the speakers next to my TV at the All-Star Break. The've remained there ever since.

There might be something to this NYSF!

I'm so damn nervous I can barely contain myself.

The Twins have gone 20-1 against the Tigers so we GOTS TO SWEEP!

Either way this has been a hell of a season. I've wanted to rip my hair out at points but it's been unforgettable. That's pretty rare for a White Sox fan.

This series is a win/win situation......

If the Sox win this series and go on to win the division, it means that they can get up for big games and perform. Period.

We don't give a damn about the division if we can't win in the playoffs. Getting up for big games and executing is paramount in the playoffs.

Therefore, if the Sox win the division, they're suited to win in the playoffs, which is a better situation than in 2000.

If the Sox can't get up for a big game (which would mean that we lose these games in Minn), then they would be wasting our times in the playoffs anyway.

So, by deduction, we win either way.
1. Sox win big, roll into the division crown, and have a great postseason.
2. Sox lose big, killing their division crown chances, we find out who we lose and keep for next year, and we get to concentrate on football (which may be better for fans of great teams like the Bills than those who are Bears fans)

In my 27 years of life, I haven't been this nervous/anxious about a regular season game ever.

This ranks right up there with game two of the ALDS in 2000 and Game 6 of the ALCS in 93.

Let's get this party started right.

I would like to use the occassion of my 1000th post to ask the baseball gods to smile down on us for once, and give Loaiza his stuff back, stop Maggs from swinging at the first pitch and stop Jose from constantly swinging at pitches out of the strike zone for strike three. You can then allow us to sweep this series and continue our run at glory. Daver says the hunting gods have killed the baseball gods. If that is the case, I'd like to take a moment to plead with the hunting gods to turn the Twins into deer, and let Aaron Rowand take care of business.

I think Maggs is the second-half champ there. For the season, it's probably a toss-up between him and Konerko.

And the Twins score another run -- I hate this freaking pool-table field.

The main thing I've noticed with Maggs lately is a lack of plate patience ... he's been coming up and swinging on the first pitch with men on base an awful lot.

I guess if the Sox continue to suck in this one, a legitimate question one would have to ask is...is it better for ELo to show his true under-pressure colors here, or in Game 1 of the playoffs?

IMO, Colon is the only real Big Game pitcher the Sox have left.

Absolutely. We're lucky we're still in this game, and we better start hitting. With Mr. Olivo coming up, it ain't going to be easy getting anything started. I say we give Loaiza one more inning with Schoeneweis waiting in the wings. One more walk ... time to hand him the ball.

I agree with you on point No. 1, not so sure on No. 2. The fact that people are saying the season is over in the third inning is absurd. But if we don't sweep, we're at a serious disadvantage ... we play the Yankees while they play the Tigers. I know people want to say "all we have to do is win and not worry about them," but ignoring the other team's schedule at this juncture is not a good idea.

I'd argue that taking 5 of 6 from KC in July when the Sox were 4 games out or so was pretty big. And coming back to win 6 straight after losing 5 straight at the end of July was rather "clutch" too. I'll grant you those aren't "in september" but I still think they were key to the season at the time. But that's just me.

Maybe they won't ... but it's not like we're talking about a schedule against the Orioles, Angels and Rangers ... we're talking about a schedule almost exclusively against the Tigers, who, despite our terrible record against them, are a horrible, horrible team. The Sox need to sweep and put the ball in their own court, because the odds of them getting much help from Detroit are very, very low.

Season isn't over, but if the Sox lose this one, I would reckon that the odds in their favor got incredibly worse.

As for whether or not they can come back in this game, history has shown that the White Sox for whatever reason tighten up in these sorts of games -- Loaiza and Frank being the worst offenders tonight.

It will take a miracle for the Sox to pull this one out, IMO.

As far as the odds of winning the division getting incredibly worse if they lose this game, I completely agree. If they lose two of three or, god forbid, get swept, we're good as done, IMO.

I'm not saying they're done here, but the Sox have made a practise of rolling over when they get down early all year. So if they can come back to win the next two games of the series that only leaves them 1/2 game up. Which is no where near enough.

His 19 wins have been great, but this is a choke job today. It happens to the best of them, and I don't think it takes away from everything else he's done. Frankly, if he pitched like the Loaiza of old throughout the season, we'd be talking about next year, not this year.

Hey you are really good in math !

But please wake up and realize that the SOX are the best team in the Central Division, but could not execute when it really counts.

I know myself, that it is not official over yet

But just watch........

I really want the sox to come back, but I dont think they have it in them. THis is so emotionally distressing for me especially when I have to go to school and deal with really obnoxious cubs fans :whiner:

Do a google search of "Columbine" for a solution to your problem.

Pitchers must laugh when they realize how little it takes to get Miguel Olivo to swing at strike three.

I admit, I had to laugh when DJ was talking about Miguel's new approach ... take two strikes before you swing at the third instead of the usual "looking ridiculous on all three strike-swingings"???

:olivo

"I'll stand there and fool them into thinking I'm a new man by not swinging at anything. Then comes the crapshoot"

The story of miguel olivo, throw him 2 strikes, then a slider low and away out of the zone and "he gone!"

Maybe this one brings you up

We (Berlin White Sox) lost our Semifinals too (10-11)

I went 0-3 and had an error on 2nd Base (fielding)

The good Lord have no heart for the White Sox.....no matter where they are located

I was thinking the same thing. I'll let two fastballs go by so I can flail wildly at a breaking ball.

The only thing that would bring me up if the sox lost tonight would be the astros winning and the cubs falling apart

But that was not my fault all alone....because the Sox lost that night before and so I could't concentrate :) :) :)

The 2003 White Sox don't deserve to win squat when they continually do zilch offensively from innings 3 onward (and tonight, innings 1 onward).

When the inevitable retooling/rebuilding comes, can we please get some guys on our team that can play some freaking small ball? I'd kill to have a fast slap-hitter like Ichiro.

You must go to one of those magnet schools where they bring in smart kids from around the city to help out the slower kids.

Hopefully Alomar's outstanding play and Lee's great catch can be a lil' spark for some offense now.

OK, 2 rare things happened there:

1. Carl Everett got a meaningful hit.

2. Carlos Lee managed to score even after hesitating around third base.
