I got 2 tix for Game 1 Section 527. I still don't know how the F I got these tix. I danced a jig and let out a Ric Flair, "Whoooooooo!"

As far as I'm concerned, my professors must allow this game off as an excused absence.

If the Sox don't make the playoffs, are these tix refundable?

No hints ... I tried to get four for game one, and I was already in sec. 557, row 23 ... this was about 30 seconds after the tickets went on sale. On my extremely limited budget (just started a new job after having no job since March), I think that's the kind of seat I'll wait to pay big money for until the ALCS or World Series. To whoever got those seats, enjoy, and you're welcome. :D:

(Besides, I've been having this bad feeling since yesterday that if I bought tickets for playoffs that are about a 50/50 shot (if not worse), I would be jinxing the team. Jinx or no jinx, though, I'll be going to the ALCS or World Series if we get there.)

Sec 556 Row 23 for game 1...I've had better...I don't know if I had worse...I'll just be glad if I get to use these! :)

I got 2 tickets for game 2 in Sec. 108.

My guess is that we'll get the $40/ticket back if the Sox don't make it to the playoffs, but that we won't get the extra $20 surcharge back. $20 surcharge - what a ripoff!!!!

On the plus side, getting tickets online is great! In 1993, I was on the phone for over an hour trying to get through for ALCS tickets.

Wow, these sold out much, much quicker than in 2000. In 2000, I think I was able to get tickets around 3:00 in the afternoon still.

That said, I snagged a pair in Sec. 531 for game 1, and 1 ticket in Sec. 109 for game 2.

I just wanted to make sure I'm there in person when the White Sox advance to the ALCS...

That's fair, I'll gladly risk losing the convenience charge for a playoff game on the South Side. But deep down we know this question is moot since we will not lose the division crown. WHOOOOOOO!

Hopefully I'll be alright. I've had a lot of experience with ordering online and I've found persistence is key. Usually i'll check for rereleased tickets as often as I can. By some stroke of luck I found 1 for game one in the bleachers. Fantastic. Only problem is i'll be going by myself. But i'm sure a few of us can meet up. Daver feel free to consolidate this to the playoff tix thread.

The site said you couldn't order more than four total for both games.

Here's the quote:

There is a 4 ticket limit per game and a 4 ticket limit per customer total for both games. No customer will be allowed to purchase more than 4 tickets total for both games. Duplicate orders will be cancelled.

Managed to get singles for both games even though they supposedly were already sold out. Good thing I got binoculars for my birthday-I'll need 'em for my Game 1 Section 506, Row 20 seat :D: .
Game 2, not too bad; Section 534, Row 29. Right behind home plate at least.
These went WAY faster than in 2000. I remember rolling out of bed a minute or 2 late and still got 3 seats to each game on the internet.

I got 2 nosebleed (row 29) in UD for Game 1 at about 10:20am.

Took a break and then just got 2 in Sec155 for the 2nd game.

Just because they were gone in 5 minutes doesn't mean they are really gone. There are tons of cancelled tickets and also bad credit cards that dump them back in the pile.

Keep plugging away!!

And yes, Ticketmaster does refund ALL convenience charges to your credit card if the games are not played. This is seperate from the refund you get from the White Sox for the tickets.

Yes Voodoo I remember it well. It was some strange bank, I went downtown on my lunch break. I stood in line with about 20 other people getting the refunds. Talk about a sad bunch of Sox fans. All these strips of ALCS tickets but nothing to use them on.

I do remember only getting the ticket value at the bank and ticketmaster refunding the charges a few weeks later seperately, however.

This was a frustrating morning for me. There were four of us each trying to get tickets online. We all tried to order tickets, but the connection timed out while the order was processing. This happened to me in 2000, but I was able to try again and still get seats. The Sox seemed to deter people from going to the ballpark, but their other methods did not work.

It will go through. The problem comes when they do searches and throw out duplicate addresses, Credit Cards and names.

Tickets wil free up as they eliminate these.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but in database land, this is easy filtering of excessive orders.

Name alone might not be enough to cancel the order though. For example, how many John Smiths are there in the world?

Scotty347

I wouldn't be suprised if ALCS tickets went on sale next week. I know they need to prepare a few weeks ahead of time, and they can't possibly wait until the Sox advance (if).

On the Twins site they are selling the tickets in one package for all of the potential playoff games (Div, ALCS, World Series) so it must be up to the individual ballclub on how they want to handle it.

There are no playoff tickets for sale on KC's site, so I guess 3/1 games back with two teams in front isn't enough for MLB to authorize the sale.

Yeah, tell me about it... I'm in Peoria with no car, so I can't just up and book for Chicago whenever I want.

However, I will be in attendance for at least 1 ALCS and 1 World Series game (no hot pink, the ****'s goin' down) because the former may not happen for another 2-3 decades and the latter may never happen in my life again.
