Hey girlz and boyz,

This may or may not wind up in the Parking Lot, but I was just wondering how everyone wound up joining this "dysfunctional" family.

I stumbled on this site before the start of the 2002 campaign, when I was looking for some Old Comiskey pictures. I typed in a search on Yahoo and it took me here. I "lurked" through the threads and decided to start posting my .02 cents here. I thank those that run the place here, this is Nirvana for Sox fans!

i'm pretty sure i found it on google, or on mlb.com white sox msg board while reading some posts

I found it a few years back, searched on google under Cubs Suck and I found the cubs suck section of this site, by the way, we need to bring that back. :D:

I think I did a search for White Sox sites. (I work with a Cubs fan that would consider that pornography.) The picture of the guy playing the harmonica at the end of some of PHG's? posts looked familiar, so I stayed around.

I was on the whitesox espn board and it kept getting mentioned. Had no clue what it was...then one day I found my way over here. Almost didn't register because I couldn't read the damn validation key in the registration. Oh what could have been....

Due to copious amounts of THC, it's kinda hazy, but I think I found WSI via the link to the Disco Demolition page when I was doing some random reminiscing and then eventually meandered to the message board.

This IS my favorite sports site on the web. The attitude is perfect, cynicism balanced with objectivity. No beanie-baby clutching clueless optimism 'round these parts.

I came over here in 1999, in December. I was living in
California then and was relying on the internet for any
info on the Sox. I honestly don't remember exactly how
I found it. I used to troll the chicagosports.com message
boards. I think maybe someone on there had posted a
link to it. It was when WSI was still part of Rivals.com.

I ran a search for Disco Demolition and WSI came up. Of course I registered right away but didn't really post until several months later. Now I'm addicted.

I think I heard it about WSI while watching the Sox on WGN while living overseas ... I'd like to think Hawk mentioned it on the air, but I can't remember.

Kick ass site!

I had been on it way back in like 1998 or '99 probably at one time when it had a link to the cubs suck website on it somewhere, but I didn't really come back until i guess two years ago when i started reading the message board. I had posted a lot of stuff on the old ChicagoSportsChat.com board before that disappeared, and the I was on the whitesox.com one until that went to the mlb owned format it is now (and suddenly turned into a crap board). I think i was just looking for a message board to talk sox baseball on, and i remembered the name from when i'd previously stumbled across it. and then i realized the board was awesome, so i stayed

I was looking for good porn and was really into foot fetishes at the time. While I searched under foot and stocking, I got White Sox Interactive. It wasn't what I wanted but I figured, what the hell. :o:

I used to lurk the white sox usenet newsgroup until it started having hosting problems (it actually disappeared for a while after the 2000 regular season :(: ). Someone (Dr. Crawdad? I remember him posting there) posted talking about this site and I migrated over in early 2002. Never looked back.

I was at SoxFest a couple years ago, and saw that cool Flying Sock Tshirt. I asked about the shirt, and what was it promoting, and George, our CEO, told me about the site. I was very curious, and the next day, checked it out. I cant tell you the very first time Logging on, and seeing all of the Sox related links, and features. But when I clicked on the message boards, I was Hooked and in Heaven. Everything I talk about sox-wise was being talked about here. I couldnt believe there were SOX fans who were totally into them Like I am. I read every thread, and finally felt comfortable to post. havnt looked back since .....

I found it on accident.

I owned another web site that had a vBulletin board like this one. They have a feature in the members section of vBulletin.com that shows all the sites that have a vBulletin board. I saw there was a White Sox board so I went to it. I saw it had a ton of cool features, so I sent FarWestChicago an email to ask him where we got the code of those modifications. He helped me for a couple weeks on it sending me code and stuff until it worked.

Then I registered and it wouldn't send me a confirmation email. PaleHoseGeorge replied telling me to just re-register, but FarWestChicago replied saying he would manually validate me via the admin control panel.

And here I am. :D:

I found out about it on the cubssuck website back in 2001. Someone mentioned it there, I looked it up, liked the fact that there were other Sox fans on the earth, and eventually started posting after much lurking. I really love the fact that there are other Sox fans.

Here in Central Illinois I can pretty much count all the Sox fans I know on one hand. Heck until 1990 I only new one, my dad, and I thought that he just had some sort of mental disease. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, the disease is contagious and I contracted it that year. It's even spread now to my wife. God help us all.

I blame FWC...

and of course the infamous SUPERTROLL!!!

OK, I was one of the original dozen or so that first started posting on the site back in 99(?) Back then it was just guys like, FWC, Moochpuppy, Voodoo (aka JustJim), Rio, Dagobeef, IAC, etc...

We were all posting on the troll board (ESPN) and there was this idiot that somehow found a way to post messages every couple of seconds. Every singe message was SOX SUCK! TRIBE RULES! typed over and over again. The guy would literally post for hours and conversation was impossible. ESPN would ban the guy, and he'd just show up with another screen name a little while later. Between him and the "server is currently unavailable" messages we kept getting we were all getting pretty sick and tired of it. FWC somehow stumbled upon the little site PHG had set up on Rivals. He came back (very exited) and told everyone about it and we all jumped over immediately.

The rest, as they say, is history...

I found out about it from Twins Geek (http://www.twinsgeek.com), which is another excellent fan site. It has a HUGE list of links to fan sites for each MLB team, along with a host of others.

I will say that I am more impressed with the site setup, baseball knowledge and fervent fanaticism on this site than pretty much any other site he links to.

The great ESPN Troll Board Exodus of 2000 is also how I came across WSI. Haven't gone near an ESPN board in about 2 1/2 years now. :gulp:

I was sitting in the hell hole called Peoria, IL following the Sox in the summer of 2000. I wasn't that excited for baseball since 94, over my summer break I was at four of the home games in the Two Week Sweep. I wanted to talk Sox back at school but the only people I knew at Bradley were either a non sports junkie, Cub's idiot, or card carrying member of the Cardinal Nation. Attempting to reach out and touch some Sox fans led me to Rivals.com incarnation of WSI.. I lurked over there and posted a few times under the id NWSF or something like that.

Same story for me. Dagobeef was the one that first turned me on to the Rivals site after I'd been on the ESPN boards for a few months. From there I've just stayed with it to where it is today.

Best site for Sox talk I've ever come across, though I do miss seeing the posts of Dago, I_ate_canada, and Rio.

I'm proud to call myself a WSI Personality.

I think it was in 2000, when I used to post on what was a Cubune message board. I think someone on those boards mentioned WSI and I checked it out and really liked all the features and stories. I also like the stuff that is posted on these boards--there are so many knowledgeable Sox fans here and the people I've met in person from these boards are great! And kudos to George & Co. for putting up with my rants and for having what I think (and everyone agrees) is the very best White Sox fan site on the internet!!

I found WSI in 2001. I think it was July and the Sox were playing the Cards. Anyway, I was just browsing the espn boards and someone, I think it was FWC, posted a link to WSI. I clicked on it and immediately found the best website I'd ever seen. I had never really followed the Sox before the 2000 season and I didn't come from a family of Sox fans. So basically I didn't know very much about the team, the history, etc. At WSI I was able to learn all that and more. WSI definitely made me the Sox fan that I am today. I entered as a casual fan and I'm still here today as a diehard.

I found WSI when Cousin George mentioned on the White Sox Mailing List that he'd started a site. If the archives of the Comiskey Park food reviews are still around somewhere, I wrote a few of them.

I started writing the column that became Fallen Arches sometime after WSI formed its partnership with Rivals.

I left the message boards for a time after the ESPN.com migration, but it was only because I couldn't keep up at the time with the volume. I since learned to sacrifice time in other areas to read everything here. Effective utilization of what used to be sleep time has come in quite handy.

If I remember correctly, I saw a link or a mention at the White Sox MLB message boards and followed it. After biding my time and reading a lot, I finally decided to register and give my views on what the White Sox team slogans would be. I've spent many an hour here since then.

You can all blame Voodoo for bringing me to this site, back in the Rivals days (when I still had my 1990 HP with the 12" monitor running Win95) I think there was about 70 members of WSI when I joined.A lot of things have changed since then,I think we added a member or two.

I think I first stumbled across WSI in fall of 1999 (I think...) I was sitting in my crappy sophomore computer class and our teacher was trying to show us the proper way to hold our hands at the keyboards and crap like that. Anyways, I was searching for Sox stuff and stumbled across the site, pre-Rivals (IIRC)... I remember the first thing I saw was a news breif about DJ joining Hawk in the both, so I think it had to have been the off-season between 1999 and 2000.

Anyways, I would periodically check the site. I don't remember exactly when I first registered, but I think it was sometime early in 2001. I remember that I first started using the older boards.

And now here I am... In Peoria (the hellhole, as DaDawg refered to it), with one lone outlet for my Sox fandom. Phew!
