Well we only have 24 players on the 25 man roster now...

Phil Rogers indicated he thought they might be so I'm hopeful.

The player to replace Cotts on the 25-man roster and playoff roster was to be announced later in the day. Cotts, who had never pitched above Double-A, will join the Barons' rotation for the Southern League playoffs and help them defend their minor-league championship from 2002, after posting an 8.10 ERA in four starts with the White Sox.

"We will probably wait until sometime before midnight tonight because that's when you have to have it in," Manuel said, mentioning the time playoff rosters have to be set. "We don't need anyone at this time. So, we will just wait."

The White Sox could opt for right-hander reliever Matt Ginter or left-hander Mike Porzio, who can spot start or pitch in long relief. But right-hander Jon Rauch also is a candidate. The 6-foot-11 right-hander, who pitched Saturday night, has a 7-1 record and 4.11 ERA in 23 starts for Triple-A Charlotte.

None of these options sound great and I hope Kenny willaims realizes this and trades for someone last minute

Jamie Burke was added to the roster. Josh Stewart was recalled and then put on the DL. This gives the Sox some flexibility. Two guys can be sent down since we know have two pitchers on the DL for the playoff roster.

Boy, another trade would be great, but i just don't see it happening. You all have to remember that as of now, koch is not on the 25 man roster. He will most likely be the one to take the roster spot of Neal Cotts. That would leave our pitching staff set as such:

1 - Loazia
2 - Buehrle
3 - Colon
4 - Garland

Long - Wright
Middle - Schoeneweis
Middle - Sullivan
Specialist - Wunsch
Setup - Marte
Closer - Gordon
Janitorial Mop-up duties - Koch

Although it would be great to replace Koch or Wright with one more reliever that we could go to in a real pressure situation to get a big out, I don't see it happening.

What I believe will happen is that Koch will remain on the DL until tommorrow. Tonight, Paniagua will be called up to the 25 man roster. At the end of September, I believe whichever two of Wright/Paniagua/Koch has the best month will be placed on the playoff roster. If I am not mistaken, I believe that since Koch is currently on the DL, we are able to call someone else up to set playoff rosters, and then once he comes off the DL, we can decide to replace him or not. Can anyone else confirm this?

Koch being on a rehab stint while returning from the DL qualifies as eligible, IIRC.
