Let's take 2-3...

Loaiza goes for #18

Loaiza vs Cornholio...If we don't knock this guy around the park I will be pissed. We have the usual lineup out there, so I feel fairly good about it. Winning this give us 2 of 3 vs Detroit which, while not optimal, is still acceptable.

By the way...that outfield wall renovation looks downright Little League World Series.
By the way, we got to talk to Josh Stewart the other day (he pitched with my best friend at Memphis), and he said that the reason E-Lo is so good is that he's one of the only guys in the league that can run or cut a "cutter".....that thing can break in on both sides of the plate, and that's something only Mariano Rivera can claim to do.
I'm telling you that the more the cutter is passed on, the lower the averages will be in this league. Guaranteed.

Jurr, I wouldn't talk...Before the break, we had our share of 10,000 and 12,000 sold games where it looked like only 7,500 were in seats. Fortunately, we are over 1,500,000 at this point. If things go well, we can end up with 2,000,000 by season's end.

Cornejo has thrown 18 pitches in 2 innings. Ugh, I hate when our hitters act like there's somewhere else they need to be. If this keeps up, this has 'shutout by a bad pitcher' written all over it.

If he keeps throwing strikes, we will pound him in the middle innings.

Are you nuts? In a 0 - 0 game in the 2nd inning, I want Loaiza throwing strikes and getting hitters out. In particular, I don't want to be pitching around Warren Morris. He hit a good pitch...its one run... Lets get the bats going and not worry about pitching around Warren Freaking Morris. This isn't Babe Ruth ya know.

For people who keep wondering why people complain that we get all our runs by home runs - this is why. We are terrible in Detroit because it is one of the hardest parks to hit a home run. If we can't score any other way - we lose in Detroit. Which is what we have done so far 3-5 so far.

LASOXFAN
08-31-2003, 02:12 PM
The detroit color man made a good point about Olivo during his last at bat. He pointed out how his bat stays in the strike zone for a very short time because his swing is too big.

Isn't this something that should be worked out BEFORE you come to the bigs?

In fact, I think a ball has been hit out of the infield about 3 times today by our bats.

Probably, but when your only other option was Josh Paul, you take your shot with Olivo, work-in-progress swing or otherwise. Also, he's here for his work behind the plate, not at it. In theory, the other 8 guys in the lineup are supposed to be more than capable of picking up the offensive slack.

That's true - it is just that this team seems to not know what to do if they can't hit homeruns. The double plays by Konerko, and Ordonez reminds me of the first half Sox.

And if we had another option, I am sure KW would love to have seen Olivo get a bit more seasoning in AA. However, we had no other options at C.
