If you've ever lost two balls in the sun, you know how painful that can be!

The Garland experiment is getting old. Wish we could've gotten Erstadt from the Angels last year. Would've been a good trade.

Erstad: .252 AVE, .309 OBP, .333 SLG, 29 years old, currently on the DL
Garland: 8W, 8L, 1.38 WHIP, 4.61 ERA, 134.2 IP, 23 years old

Garland is a solid #4 starter who may improve. Though he makes several times more money, Erstad is a worse offensive player than Aaron Rowand and on the down-side of his career.

personally, i'd go as far as to say garland would be a decent number three and is an excellent number four. an era around four and a half in the back of your rotation is very good. for many teams the last two guys in their rotation are along the lines of wright, inconsistent pitchers with eras over 5.

Garland has strung together some consistent outings this season and I think being only 23 he might have turned the corner. A couple of those losses were 1-0 or 2-1 and he hasn't imploded more than 2-3 times. I think we're going to see a very solid #4 guy who can only go up.

and when he does he'll be a free agent and will be doing it with another club...

But will he improve enough between now and October? :?:
