How many HRs will our chisox get?

my guess is 3.

I'm looking for either Thomas or Everett to have a big game today. Both have been relatively quiet in this homer/run scoring binge.

Lee destroyed that ball but Snyder got so lucky getting away with two hangers to maggs

That was a HUGE play by Maggs. Turned a sure double into just another pop-up...

Now, the REAL question is: will CARLOS hit 3 homers today?

delben91

Sacrifice bunts in the 3rd inning? Pena either thinks this is going to be a close, low-scoring game, or has little confidence in his offense...

Or both.

Come on Esteban!!

I think this will be close. The Sox aren't hitting against this guy. I kinda have a bad feeling...2-2 game.

Sacrafice fly by Carlos...3-2 Sox! 3 RBI's for Caballo...

delben91

On MLB Gameday, looked like Frank "just missed" that fly out to left. Did he?

On the plus side, sac fly from Carlos, manufacturing a run.

For any who still care about the twins, the orioles just scored 3 in the top of the 6th to take a 6-5 lead.

And guess who drove in the 6th run? Robert Machado. Man, doesn't that bring back some memories.

I'm as worried as anyone about Koch warming up right now, but if, and it's a big if, he can get out of a jam or pitch the 9th 1,2,3, then that could really bolster his confidence, and our bullpen as a result.

What an unlikely victory tonight. I thought once Gordon had 2 men on in the 9th that it was all over but the shouting.

*Sandy Alomar* with the game-winning hit? Unreal.

Too many heart-attack moments to count tonight. Too many thoughts of "gee, if Willie Harris had stolen that base, he'd've scored on PK's hit, possibly."

Too many back & forth momentum swings.

An amazing game capping off a truly memorable, pivotal series.

This was a spectacular game for many reasons.

The bad, to start: The pitching didn't have it today and every pitcher gave up at least one run. Loaiza had trouble keeping the ball outside of the middle of the plate. Marte wasn't pitching great, and Gordon blew the save. Maggs hit streak ended and Frank is still reeling.

The good, to counterargue: The offense scored eight runs. The defense was very good. Harris cut down Mayne, Alomar gave a great effort in the 9th on Tucker's game-tying hit and Maggs made a fantastic play. Sandy Alomar had the game-winning hit and Robbie Alomar added a big insurance run.

I'm sure there's some more on either side, but here's the best thing from tonight's game:

The White Sox picked each other up when they needed it and fought back, not letting a blown save deter them. When the Sox lost all the momentum, the guys didn't worry, came back and won the game in grand fashion.

(I can't think of a better closing, but I think this is pretty good.)

Go, White Sox!

I hope you guys are on Cloud Nine like I am. There's nothing better than going to bed knowing the Sox just won - and SWEPT! And there's nothing better than knowing that the Cubune, no matter how much I despise their ownership w/the Scrubs, will have a ton of stuff for me to read in the morning. I'm so excited I can't even get to sleep now! Our guys need to get some good rest tonight and wake up tomorrow, knowing that there's plenty of unfinished business to do. We're playing a good Seattle team and K.C. is, well, gonna take their frustrations out on a crappy team. Soak up all of the excitement, though, guys. Tonight belongs to THE SOX!!!

EVERY game is crucial over the next two months, let's hope the Sox don't rest on their laurels and take tha same attitude to Seattle.

Need a nice game out of Colon to give the pen a breather.

It will be interesting to see how they play over the next few weeks. If they somehow bounce back & turn it on again I'll be very surprised. It's more likely that they'll fall off the face of the earth now.

Tonight's loss had to be the worst of the series for them, probably their worst of the season. To get pounded in the 1st 2 games of the series, then make a 9th inning comeback in a possible face saving game only to end up blowing it, had to just crush 'em.

EVERY game is crucial over the next two months, let's hope the Sox don't rest on their laurels and take tha same attitude to Seattle.

Need a nice game out of Colon to give the pen a breather.

You're right. The Twins are not out of it yet, but at least the Sox have finally been able to show that they can beat them. They also proved that they can beat KC. Now they need to show that they can beat west coast teams, as well.

Seattle...YOU'RE NEXT!

All I can say is wow. I never should've doubted them. I actually woke up around 3am with a dream that someone on the Royals had hit a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 10th. So much for foreshadowing!!!

If the Sox can take 2 of 3 from Seattle, I'll be loving it. I think KC will rebound somewhat against Tampa Bay, but the Rays seem to have discovered some offense of late, so you never know.

As for today, it's all about the Sox baby, I love it!

GO SOX!!

Also, noticed the bubble finally burst on your signature WinningUgly!, about time :D:

I 100% agree with that. That game had one of the most bizarro ending sequences that I've ever seen. There's no way Restovich should have reached first on that strikeout in the bottom of the ninth. He was headed back to the dugout. By the time he started running to first base the catcher had retrieved the ball. Baltimore's first baseman couldn't handle the throw, and for a big guy, Restovich IS fast.

Jacque Jones chops one turf ball over the heads of 5 infielders in the bottom of the 10th.
Baltimore went thru their entire bullpen...
That win was a gift. One that they'll happily take.

Nice win for the Sox. I'm glad they pounded KC.
