I've watched the royals on and off all season and every time they have lost a big game they have come right back and won the next one.If Garland and the Sox can beat them tonight it would be a large blow to their confidence and the start of a losing streak. The walls of the royal kingdom could come tumbling down.

Let's hope it's a sign of things to come!

Manuel seems to think that hitting Lee in front of Thomas and Ordonez helps him. Personally, I think Manuel's full of it. Carlos doesn't have the plate discipline to hit in the two slot.

No. Single through the box, bloop single, bad play by Konerko, chopper off the plate. Reminds me a lot of the Twins offense against us the last few seasons.

Accidental hits, combined with ridiculous grounders and a Robin Ventura-wannabe play by Paulie contributes to a weak-assed 2-run inning by the Royals. Disgusting.

But, Jose has already gotten 1 back, so who knows...

Hernandez has thrown forty one pitches through two innings. If the Sox can get into that bullpen again, this game is over.

They probably are. It's no secret that the Sox bullpen is overworked. The difference is that their relievers are still capable of doing a respectable job shutting people down. The same cannot be said for the Royals.

RKMeibalane

Garland needs to stop allowing so many walks. That's why he has so much trouble avoiding big innings. Bloop singles and errors don't matter as long as you're getting everyone else out. He hasn't been doing that so far tonight.

Difelice just doubled. It's 3-1 KC. Case and point.

Garland has a tendency to work around the corners instead of just going after hitters. That's why he falls behind them and gives up walks and hits in bunches, as he is doing right now.

I may be wrong, but piecing together somehow linked info in my head:

Affeldt went to the DL earlier and when he came back, Pena didn't want to put him back into the rotation, so he started pitching out of the bullpen. How long he's been back from the DL, or how long he's been pitching out of the 'pen, I'm not sure. I think that's the story, though.

Lowe's a nice guy and seems down-to-earth in interviews, but I wouldn't want him anywhere near our bullpen right now. He's a batting practice pitcher at this point.

That's the truth. Now even the people here in Nebraska are jumping on the bandwagon. A few months ago I had a friend send me a petition which he was going to send to the Royals owner to get him to keep Beltran. I told him that they were better off giving up now because it would be too painful to see the Sox overtake them in the second half. My prophecy may now be coming true...

Having watched most of the game on TV, I have a couple of points to add.

Yeah, the runs in the first were really soft. I thought Garland drilled Randa on purpose - to work off some frustration. The K-CS DP to end the 2nd could have just as easily been bases loaded and 1 out. That wasn't much of a strike. Don't know about Frank and Hernandez - timing was suspicious, but to hit a guy with a 2 run lead and no one out when you have him on the ropes is bad baseball - the Sox made them pay.

When the Gamecast is out, try Yahoo sports. They are much more consistent.

I've said this time and time again. CBSSPORTSLINE.COM (http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/scoreboard) is by far the fastest and best java-based scoreboard ever. It updates seconds after the pitch and does all the games at once. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Game of the year tomorrow night.

A win would close us in to 1-game out of first place and a sweep of KC.

A loss knocks us back to 3 out. Not the end of the world, but the sweep would be psychologically devastating to KC.

Let's do it.
