First off, I think that this entire fiasco is being way overblown by the media and people.

That being said...........

Rick White........SHUT UP! Your ERA is almost your height. Please just play ball.

Can't we all just get along?

Once again Rick White shows that when you open your big mouth and implant your foot, you place a lot of unnecessary pressure on yourself. And RW is not good enough of a pitcher to succeed with the added pressure of 'outside influevces'.

I think Jerry put him into a somewhat tight spot where he had to hold the score to keep things easy. White didn't and now JM has the high ground because he used him right away and he bombed. Chew on that Rick. I agree with what he said, and a bigger deal has been made, but he should shuddup if he sucks this bad. I hope he's next out the door.

A "tight spot"? Dude, he had a 9-3 lead. And how can you agree with what he said, especially after this last performance? Has White, Glover, Koch or Sanders (before he left) earned the right to see more playing time? If anything we should be thanking JM for leaning so hard on Marte and Gordon until the offense could get out of neutral.

I personally thought it was disgusting that this clown had the nerve to rip the management, and then serve up a homer like that in his next appearance. Karma...Rikki....karma!

Shut up and play.

Wish we still had a guy like Pudge in the clubhouse who could have a little "chat" with Rick. I shudder to think what Fisk would say to that guy...

Fisk: "Listen you fat ass biker wannabe..."

Yet another reason I love Don Cooper. From the Sun-Times. (http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-doug302.html)

"We've talked about certain things in the past,'' Cooper said. "Roles get earned. The bullpen usually shows you exactly where they should be pitching. The guy that's dealing, what he's saying is, 'Hey, check me out. You have to use me today because I'm Mr. Steady.' See [Tom Gordon] and see Damaso Marte as those two guys.

"If you've watched our team all year, you know the guys we have to bring in the game right now, and hopefully that list gets longer.''

And another Sun-Times article. (http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-sox30.html)

"When I heard about it, I brought him in and said everyone is entitled to their opinion and can do and say whatever they want,'' Manuel said. "But at least give me the courtesy of letting me know how you feel. My door is open, and I don't have a problem with second-guessing or anything like that.''

Pitching coach Don Cooper seemed less understanding than Manuel.

"Here's what I say: From now on, White Sox don't talk about White Sox in the paper,'' Cooper said. "That's the way it should be everywhere. When I was with the Yankees, that was the rule--you don't talk about other Yankees in the paper. You want to talk to them to their face, you go talk to them to their face, but not in the paper.''

See that Rick? You EARN your role...and get this, you actually deal with your teammates (or manager) in person, not through the media. You picked it up the last month, and got more appearances because of it. Now, stop giving up 3 run homers to the Royals, and keep your mouth shut.

And another one in the Trib (http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/cs-030729soxgamer,1,1690435.story?coll=cs-whitesox-headlines) today.

After giving up a three-run homer Tuesday to Kansas City's Angel Berroa in the eighth inning, White's earned-run average jumped to 6.61.

Manuel said he was looking for a chance to use White on Tuesday.

"You speak up and profess different things, I like to give you an opportunity to prove that," Manuel said. "You know how I am about those things. Do what you can to back it up. I like guys who say what's on their mind and then go out there and perform."

Jerry Translator

What Jerry Said:
"You speak up and profess different things, I like to give you an opportunity to prove that," Manuel said. "You know how I am about those things. Do what you can to back it up. I like guys who say what's on their mind and then go out there and perform."

What Jerry Means:
"If you talk the talk, you must walk the walk. If you're blabbing on about roles and such and such, I'll give you a shot and put you into the game. If you put the team in a much worse situation than they should've been in, I'm gonna show you a new role - and that's glued to the bench. Although with Rick White, it looks like he's had a few too many dinner rolls. In other words, Rick, you can bitch good, but you sure can't pitch good."

...

Well, it may not be very accurate or very close to what Jerry really means, but I say it reads pretty well.

Interesting article today in the Daily Southtown about the White fiasco.

Looks as if White may be backtracking a bit. Apparently he doesn't speak for the whole team after all.

A great quote by Rick Morrissey:

"A middle reliever complaining about odd working conditions is like a robot complaining about repetitive-motion syndrome."
