The Sox need to approach this game the way they did back in 2000, when they started the series in Cleveland. That was the beginning of the "Seven Glorious Days" of White Sox baseball. Just thinking about it brings a tear to my eye. :D:

It's now or never for the Sox. Either they go out there with some attitude and get a sweep or get beat by the Royals and start to dismantle.

Inexcusable not to be playing Rowand tonight instead of Everett. Not only is Rowand 5 times better on D, but he's a much better hitter vs lefties than is Carl.

"I wanted to get Carl back in the lineup as soon as possible. It's important to keep all of our guys sharp. Carl hasn't been swinging the bat well of late, so I wanted him to have a chance to get into a groove. That way, when I rest him again next week, I will know that I can count on him for pinch-hitting duty in the ninth inning."

I know he's hit a lot of homers lately, but Frank's swing is pretty pathetic right now. He's swinging straight up, and is giving himself no chance for any hit besides a long fly ball.

That's the reason why I don't like his approach at the plate right now. Even though he has been hitting well recently, the risk is too great that he could screw himself up mechanically and go into another slump.

I have no problem with Frank trying to hit the ball into orbit when he has a pitch that he can drive. But the rest of the time, he should just keep it simple and try to make solid contact. The Sox have too many hitters who keep swinging for the fences.

Carlos is in homer mode as well right now. Massive upper-cuts on each swing. This is the reason that KC is so much better w/men on base than are the Sox. They take whatever they can get.

I would only use the sacrifice bunt if the runner were on second base, because he would be able to advance to third on the play. Otherwise, you would never see it. I don't know why Manuel called for it there. The Sox have proven that they can't score runs by playing "small ball." Yet everyone sees this except Manuel.

It was Harold Reynolds, who has predicted it all along ... and he predicted it would be by the 11th, after the A's series. Bobby V. agreed with him and for once, Ravech gave us props.

A 5 run lead when he brings in Marte
A 3 run lead when he brings in Wunsch and Gordon

These are not the situations to be using our best relievers. White should have come in when we had the 5 run lead. If he gives up a 3 run homer, then no, that is not Manuel's fault. If the game gets close because of one of your relievers sucking it up, then yes, you can pull out your weapons. You don't however, bring them in when we don't need them.

I'd have to say that if Rick White is going to be the loudmouth who wants more set roles, then he needs to back it up...

Bob

No, I think he put him in there because he had a 6-run lead to work with and assumed even he couldn't blow that. Thank God, I was halfway expecting Jerry to keep him in there after Harvey's bomb to see if he could keep it together, totally ignoring how important this series is.

Go White Sox.

to me in a pennant race you tell your pitchers to buck up and be prepared to go anytime and any situation. the baseball gods bit white in the ass for ripping a teammate in public. you wanna rip, do it behind the clubhouse door. Shouldn't have been so exciting but I'll take it. As Hawk said these guys never give up .....till the game ending DP.

Did I miss something? I thought White ripped his manager on behalf of his teammates

That was the impression I got, or does anyone think that White did this on his own? I still think that if he is going to be the mouthpiece than he CANNOT be the guy giving up 3-run jacks in a 6-run game in the 8th. You want the mantle of leadership than you'd damned well be ready to back it up when your time comes...

That's one....

and take a chill pill y'all on White. Look closely at that inning.

He gets the first two guys out. Gives up a solid double, then Raul Ibanez hits a SEEING EYE, GROUND BALL INFIELD SINGLE to keep the inning going. If that ball is a foot closer to the first base side, Alomar gets him and the inning is over. That ball wasn't hit that well.

Not excusing the fact that he gave up the three run home run but with a little bit of luck he's out of that inning clean.

He'll be fine.

and just my opinion but I think White WAS saying things that other Sox players were thinking or feeling about Manager Gandhi but didn't have the guts to say.

I think it's pretty obvious Hawk once had the hots for Annette.

On every team in organized sports I ever played on, the manager is the leader as well as a teammate. This go's to the reaction of the royals to william ligue's dumbass. Coach-teammate getting jumped, we kick their ass. By going to the media first, there a lot more guys pissed at white than with him. I hope white and manuel get passed this soon so white can get back to the way he was throwing during THE eight game winning streak.

See what I hate about Manuel? It was a blowout game tonight and we're going on what, our 4th pitcher now? And you know we'll use at least one if not 2 more. I guess White never came in in the 8th inning before since his role isn't defined. Main event for the next wrestlemania: White vs. Manuel in a death match.

Well either way we'll win on that one!
