The right stuff
Manuel has been nominated for Major League Baseball's inaugural Manager's Move of the Week Award.
He earned the nod for his decision to pinch-hit for Miguel Olivo on Saturday against Detroit. After Brian Daubach was announced as the pinch-hitter and Tigers manager Alan Trammell countered by bringing in Jamie Walker, Manuel replaced Daubach with Graffanino, who hit a three-run homer in the Sox's 6-2 victory.
Pittsburgh's Lloyd McClendon and Atlanta's Bobby Cox are also candidates for the award. Fans can vote at MLB.com until Wednesday, and the winning manager will have a $1,000 donation made in his name to a local prostate cancer awareness organization.
Now if that isn't ironic, I don't know what is. :)
