Sox hitting coach Greg Walker was struck by a ball hit by Carlos Lee on Sunday while flipping balls to Lee in the batting cage and sustained a broken bone near his right elbow.

Walker had surgery Sunday night and probably won't rejoin the team until Friday.

Harold Baines will take his spot with the team in Toronto.

"They're really similar, so it's a good situation for us," Manuel said. "The philosophy is really the same. They've worked together. They're almost like brothers, anyway."

What is the difference between Hinriak and Baines as a coach? They are both from the Lau school of hitting.

Why does Walker need his elbow to be a hitting coach?

It's not in that report, but is in the one in the Sun Times. (http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-ssep22.html) He was kept overnight after getting fluid in his lungs. Due to said fluid, it's possible they don't want him flying. So he'd stay in chicago until the sox come home again. Just my opinion.
