Curious...why do a lot of WSI folk refer to the tribe as such?

I believe I can answer that one Mikey. Referring to the Indians
as the "Tribe" was simply a nickname reporters and their fans
gave them, thats all. Fans now call them that as a term of endearment. I believe in the old old days, the AL team
out of NY was called the Highlanders, but everyone referred to them as the YANKEES, and that ended up becoming thier real

I wasn't asking about the name "Tribe" but rather about "Jinjians." But your answer is right , Henry.

If you're talking about all the "J's" then look no further than the uniform. The tribe recently had their uniforms retooled a bit, and the cursive "I" on the cap was done a bit absurdly. I don't remember who first pointed it out, but they said it much more closely resembled a capital, script "J", which it definitely does. So, when referring to the "Indians", just substitute J's for the I's and you get "Jndjans".
