First baseman/third baseman Ryan Hankins hit safely in 13 of his 16 at bats this past week, resulting in an .813 average. After rain washed out Charlotte's games with Pawtucket last Monday and Tuesday, the 27-year old's week got off to a late start in Wednesday's doubleheader with Toledo. Ryan had a pair of hits in each game as Charlotte swept the DH. He singled twice in the opener, then doubled, homered, and drove in two runs in the nightcap, while scoring twice. He sat out Thursday's game with Toledo, but returned to the line-up with a flair on the Fourth of July. Hankins, a native of Simi Valley, Ca had three hits, including a double, and scored twice as the Knights defeated North Division leader Buffalo 10-5. Charlotte fell to the Bisons 16-6 on Saturday as Hankins went 3-4 with a double, a solo home run, and three runs scored in a losing effort. The right hander was perfect at the plate in Sunday's 11-2 win, posting his third straight three-hit effort and scoring a pair of runs. Hankins, a 13th round selection in the 1997 draft, has hit .387 since joining Charlotte on July 17th from Double-A Birmingham, where he hit .288 with 7 HR and 36 RBI in 67 games.
