my apologies if this has already been mentioned ...

but i got a kick out of espn's lead story on the sox webpage.

"Since injuring himself with the Red Sox in 2001, centerfield hasn't exactly been Carl Everett's strongest position in the field. And questions arose about having Everett in center July 9 when he couldn't track down a pair of bloops in center off the bat of Detroit's Warren Morris. Manager Jerry Manuel blamed that on the spaciousness of U.S. Cellular Field, and as long as Everett produces at the plate, Manuel will deal with the defense. "You can't have it all," Manuel told the Chicago Sun-Times on July 10. "You can't have a great offensive club and a great defensive club and great speed and all that. You have to decide which way you're going to go and stick with it." "

does he not realize the hypocracy of his last statement?
has he stuck with ANYTHING since he's been here?

not to mention ... what balls to suggest the sox have even ONE of those qualities!

Manuel's an idiot. Obviously, he's never seen the Yankees play. They've had teams that "had everything." Of course, this is Jerry Manuel we're talking about. His brain hasn't been seen in over five years.
