Why is this team so homer happy? Maybe it's time that Walker introduced driving the ball to the opposite field. Or maybe force them to hit as contact hitters.

i dont like Lee batting 2nd at all. That was a horrible approach he took in his first Ab. Go back to letting Valentin bat in the 2nd hole. Also, is it me, are does Daubach fit in perfectly with this bunch of swing for the fences on every pitch hitters we have?

You've got to think the players to some degree likely feel just the same as we all do...as soon as they get down, they're done, they go into the game thinking they've got no chance.

Not excusing their play, quite the opposite, but just a thought that occured to me.

He's throwing as many balls as strikes. If they'd just be patient, he'd either 1) walk them, 2) groove one.

The latter result however, in the lineup's current state still wouldn't result in hits, but come on guys, wake up and show some patience.

I'll hold my breath for that to happen...

Is it back to rooting for the Sox to lose the rest of the games before the all-star break so that Manuel might get fired and they trade some of their players in an effort to rebuild? This team is going nowhere, especially with Manuel as the manager. Face it, the only reason the Sox got hot was that they were facing the struggling Twins and Cubs.

This series has been the worst intensity level I've ever seen displayed by a baseball team. The Sox look absolutely horrific, and are taking just pathetic swings. Our super young player Joe Crede just struck out vs the easiest pitcher to hit the ball off of in baseball.

I've actually noticed this on a few occassions. Usually they are the "sunday" uniforms, and of course Sundays are day games, so often the sox are running around out there in their black shirts during the one sun-soaked game of the week, yet when they could use a little extra extra warmth, such as in april/may cool night games, they generally where their white uniforms. Which seconds the question . . . is their a functioning brain anywhere in this organization?

The trade is only poor because Manuel/KW don't know how to use them properly. Everett should DH and play some left when CLee needs to sit on the bench, and Harris and Rowand should share center in a quasi-platoon type thing. I still think Alamor is an upgrade at second over Harris and obviously Jimenez.

I do agree that Rowand was looking really good at the plate when the trade ocurred, and that Everett has little to no range in center. So I'm wondering who is calling the shots here? KW . . . JM . . . one of them is demanding that a leftfielder play center, maybe both are that dumb.

I'm sorry guys, but I've got to laugh, in a strange, sad way. I don't think I've seen a more disgusting group of players in my life... We've done near nothing (two wins) since the trade, we've lost five-of-six to the Devil Rays and Tigers, and in those losses have scored a total of what eight runs. And this is with a line up/roster of Maggs, Frank, Alomar, Everett, Lee, Crede, Konerko, Valentin, Daubach, etc... This really is embarassing... I really, really, really don't want to see a fire sale because I'm extremely tired of losing and rebuilding seasons, but I'm stumped. And again, nothing will be done and it will all be our fault... And to think I was excited about having the All-Star game here... Now all the broadcasters can have a field day with this sweep to the Tigers... the TIGERS... this is BAD!

You know the most pathetic thing? Our pitchers gave up 17 runs in these last 6 games against the 2 worst teams in baseball. That's 2.8 runs a game. That's damn fine pitching.
And we still LOST 5 OUT OF 6!!!!!!!
Throw out the one blowout in Tampa and our offense managed to score 8 runs. In 5 games.
Against some of the worst pitchers nobody's ever heard of.
Jorge Sosa?
Jeremy "2-13" Bonderman?
Nate Cornejo?
Wilfredo ****ing Ledezma?

Words cannot describe how embarassed I am to be a Sox fan right now. When I get home I'm burying my damn Sox hat 6 feet deep in my backyard. I'm ashamed to wear it right now.

And $Bill Wirtz is even worse (if you can imagine) than JR. There are three teams in town that I care about; the Hawks, the Bears and the Sox, and each is a hopeless wreck.

The only saving grace for me is that the strike really soured me on being a rabid fan of *any* team. Sure, I hope that "my" team wins and feel good when they do, but their losing doesn't wreck my day. It used to be that a Bears loss completely ruined my Sunday, and a Sox or Hawks loss would put me in a crabby mood for hours. Not any more. I've found that you can get *excellent* tee times around here on Sundays in September and October (my favorite time to golf, anyway), and if the Sox start stinking up the airwaves, my kids and I can go out and play catch or shoot hoops in the driveway.

So actually, I should be grateful to the greedy players and owers of MLB. Follow the path of truth and freedom! Repeat after me, my Brothers and Sisters:
Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, I am free at last!

:sahaf Everything is fine. We have the situation completely under control. We just let the Tigers sweep us so that we can lure them into a trap in 2010.

There's not much to say is there?

Two choices and ONLY two choices left for the Dead Sox:

A. Fire Jerry Manuel, deserved or not, something has to be done to shake things up.

B. Say the hell with it and commence the fire sale. This time I can't blame ownership. These guys a brain dead zombies.

I feel bad for Loaiza he's lost three straight and allowed what, 4 or 5 total runs in three games? This reminds me of Gary Peters 1966.

Also now 12-17 (unofficially) in one run games, including five of their last six losses by one run.

Corpseball is back with a vengence!!! No heart, no luck, no guts, no leadership.

White Sox baseball 2003: The same dung as the last two years!

Ahh, the glory days of the Sox, and the days when I REALLY cared what they did. (BTW, Gary Peters was my hero back then.)

Dave Nicholson:

Get on the main page of WSI, look on the far left side right under the baseball card of the week feature. Click on the link WSI Interviews and look for the one with gary Peters. I think you'll enjoy it!

At least Olivo snapped an 0-for-24 skid with a sixth-inning single.
