I just thought of something, I believe that robbie is not the rent-a-player that most people believe him to be. After this year the sox have no real answer at second base outside of miles(if you want to call him an answer), and he has been reunited with his brother Sandy. Again this is just a theory, but I believe that the sox intend to retain Robbie.
Please post your opinion of the 2nd base situation for next year.

I agree.

I agree as well, but I think Sandy's playing days are over after this year.

Unless the Sox make another trade, their options are:

1) Willie Harris
2) Tony Graffanino
3) Promoting Tim Hummell from AAA
4) Promoting Aaron Miles from AAA.

Nope--my money is on Robbie!

OK, let's say that they offer him arbitration. That gives them a draft pick if he signs with another team. If he goes through arbitration, what sort of salary would the Sox have to pay?

Minimum of 7 mil, depending on the arbitration hearing.

There is no way the Sox would offer him arbitration.

He's coming off a couple of poor years. They may gamble and offer it if its an option

If we could sign him for around 5 mil I think he'll be back, but I don't think he will come that cheap.

I disagree. Most people agree that he's past his prime, he'll cost about $7 million next season, he has a bad image among fans... there's just not enough upside, IMO.

Plus, unless we go to the WS and the organization pulls in a ton of money from increased ticket sales and apparel, I foresee JR cutting the payroll down to around 30 million and going through a "rebuilding" process again next season. Alomar would not be a part of that process.
