Today's Lineup:

Alomar, 2B
Harris, CF
Thomas, 1B
Daubach, RF
Everett, DH
Lee, LF
Valentin, SS
Graffanino, 3B
Olivo, C

Great to see Graff and his .338 OBP at the bottom of the lineup while Willie and his .224 OBP stay at #2

:weewillie
"Awww, coach, why can't I still bat leadoff?"

"Patience, my son. Wait until Alomar has one 0-4 day. Then we'll really shake things up."

That's three in the past two days.

Hmmm. I guess good players actually do make baserunning mistakes sometimes.

Harris bats #2 while Graffanino bats #8. Another genius line up from the Tinkerer.

"Hey, that's the way I drew the names from my cap!"

I'll give Manuel the benefit of the doubt for starting Daubach over Maggs in right field. What's wrong with our rightfielder tonight?

I don't care who he is, 3 baserunning errors in 10 innings is inexcusable, alomar needs to be a lot more careful...

I don't really consider a caught stealing a baserunning error and he was safe on that play at second yesterday to lead off the game. But yes, he does need to watch himself a little better.

It is pretty funny. That is his third baserunning out in the last two games. I like Robbie and am more than willing to put up with a few mistakes of aggression from him. In addition, that last one was tough. He froze - like they are taught to do. The ball was just behind him. Even if he breaks for the bag the instant he realizes it is caught, he still might not make it back.

Still, the question remains:

Do the Sox employ a "how Not to run the bases couch" and then require every new player to attend a seminar with said couch?

It's a signature... At the top right of the page, click on the http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/images/top_profile.gif button, then click on Update Profile, and in there, there is a button for editing your signature...

It's the exact same as any regularl message in terms of colors, texts, smileys, etc. (Except I believe there is a 10-smiley limit and 1-pic limit to save bandwith).

Why not pinch hit for Olivo there? He's like 0 for his last 20, and we have Mags or PK on the bench. That was an absolutely pathetic at bat by him. Manuel needs to do some managing. Also, Tony G. continue to be Mr. Non-Clutch. For a veteran, he sure has little poise in those situations.

The sad part there was none of those guys went up there with any sort of approach at the plate. Jose wasn't trying to get a run in. TGraf looked clueless. And Olivo looked like a little leaguer.

07-05-2003, 07:14 PM
Like I said I was worried about a couple of days ago, there have been no rallies. No hits strung together. Just timely homers. Those type of streaks don't last as long as hit streaks.

As far as the last bases-loaded-no out failure, not one of the final three hitters went up there with any kind of plan, like ilsox7 said.

They should have all been looking for the walk until there was 2 called strikes, called, not swings and miss or fouls, and then look to go to right field.

We deserve to lose this game tonight.

Manuel is once again being severely out-managed by Pinella. Yesterday, Pinella basically sacrificed a potential out in PH w/Perez in order to get Marte out of the game. His strategy worked. When's the last time Manuel used any strategy?

Yeah, and we had one on Thursday, but in reality, the choice was Harris or Magglio, because he definitely wanted both Everett and Daubach hitting today. Harris has done well. I just think it's a bad time to tinker. Oh heck, it's almost ALWAYS a bad time to tinker...

Fact: when you score 1 run off a pitcher with a record of 1-6 and an ERA of over 6 you've got major problems.

Fact: when you have the bases loaded, none out, have a chance to break the game wide open and get ZERO runs, you've got a serious problem.

Fact: (and this is specifically directed to those who thought the Sox would cake walk over the 10 game road trip) With the loss tonight the Sox are now an unbelieveable 12-12 against the "garbage" teams, Detroit, San Diego, Tampa Bay and Cleveland this year.

and this is even more incredible....they started out 9-2 against that same group! Since then 3-10!!!!!

This is a complete reversal from 01 and 02, when the Sox would kill the bad teams and lost almost every time to the good ones.

Here's another stat, the Sox are now 12-16 in one run games this year.

White Sox baseball, Jeckell and Hyde. there's ALWAYS something missing.
