Everyone says Valentine sucks, but guess what - almost identical career OBPs AND slugging percentages.

Tejada is OVERRATED by the media (BIG TIME) and we will OVERPAY for him signficantly. Beane wants to get rid of this guy precisely because he knows people will WAY OVERPAY for a SS that can hit 30 homers. Valentine hits 25 - not much difference.
Leave Jose alone - his numbers aren't much different.
And let Crede develop.
Get another bat, a cheaper one - but let's wait and see what we need.
Going for it is fine - but still be prudent.

I totally agree he is overrated and overpayed, but think if KW could pull off another have the other team pay the contract. Fat chance in this trade, but really I don't want Tejada. Jose is fine at SS, we just gotta make sure he makes no drillrod plays.

I could not agree more. Plus, Jose is great for the clubhouse. I *guess* putting Jose at 3B for Crede is okay, but still, I'd rather not give up any more minor leaguers for Tejada.
