After watching that game, and regularly reporting on it to Ode to Veeck who is speeding up I-5 at the moment, it came to me that JM may have created a new verb. This is somewhat related to the "disprespect" thread in The Parking Lot.

Mendoze (verb)

: to field a lineup of .200 hitters in order to beat a hated enemy.

:jerry

We sure Mendozed the Flubs today!!

To my way of thinking, it's perfectly logical that the first losing baseball team to be "mendozed" should be the Flubbies.

They're so lovable when they're mendozed.

"But did you see how versatile the team was today? Jimenez at 3rd, Graff at first. We were a dream squad. Everyone plays every position. And by golly, it worked! I just wish I hadn't lost my temper when they brought in the lefty to pitch to Daubach. I still can't believe the umps let them cheat like that..."

Well, despite the word's inception today, let's label Uecker under an archaic synonym.

So, we have:

Synonyms - Royce, Konerko. Archaic; Uecker.

There you go. First, Uecker gets in the HoF and now he's a verb. What a year!
