Well, what do you think?

I say the Sox finish at 82-80, 3rd place, 8 games back of Cleveland and 2 games back of Minny.

I would like to be realistic with this prediction, so I will play it safe by saying 81-81. Respectable when you consider all of the players on the DL.

I'll opt for the magic number--81-81, nine back of the Native Americans, tied with Minnesota for 2nd.

MY PREDICTED FINAL AL CENTRAL STANDINGS

Cleveland : 86-76; -
WHITE SOX : 81-81; 5
Minnesota : 78-84; 8
Kansas City & Detroit - Who cares? Take your picks...

I will say
Cleveland 90-72
Minnesota 85-77 5
White Sox 80-82 10

It's still quite possible that the division will be won with only 85 games or so. Can we please reel off just one 8-game winning streak to make things interesting?

Sox will end up about 83-79, approximately 6 games back of the Tribe and a couple games ahead of the Twins. The Sox will get hot again, but only after doing so means next to nothing, like during the final week or two.

Just something to keep in mind when making these predictions guys, we still play Cleveland 8 more times and the Twins 6 more times. Just remember that a lot of ground can be made in a short span of time. Up and down...

The White Sox dream season ended today with their expected 12-0 demolition of the Atlanta Braves. Thus ending the most improbable turnaround in baseball history.

After floundering in third for most of the season and sporting a 61-63 record on August 22nd, the Sox won the rest of their games when an unknown player (mini-ditka) came out of nowhere to supplant Little Eddie as the most famous little person in baseball history. Though the pitchers could never actully throw a strike to this 6" tall player, he managed to average 3HR a game, by jumping high into the air and absolutely crushing whatever pitch was thrown. Toward the end of the year teams gave up and started intentionally walking Mini-D (as he came to be known). This proved a temporary solution as the mighty mite's standing long jump proved to be as potent as his high jump and soon he was back to crushing everything that was within 15 feet of the strike zone.

When asked why he didn't just give up and throw at Mini-D Cleveland's manger Charlie Manuel just shook his head and said, "I don't want that little bugger coming after me. He's incredibly strong and fast, and I'm just a tired old man..."

The Sox won their division going away and proceded to storm through the playoffs, not losing a single game as Mini-D proved he was even more versatile by pitching every day and throwing 10 perfect games, the sole baseruner he allowed in the post season coming on (what else) a Jose Valentin error. After the game Valentin could not be consoled, but Mini-D patted him on the ankle and said... "The past is for losers and cowards... We won, we''ll get 'em tomorrow again." And they did...

:iron
"what a great story, I laughed, I cried (well almost, after all, I'm Iron Mike), I believed it was true."

:moron
"made me want to puke"

:iron
"Shut up, bonehead..."

GO SOX!!!

Problem is, we can't beat teams that are better than us!!! In order to make that ground up we'd actually have to win almost all those games, assuming we don't loose more ground.

81-81. The Sox just can't seem to get past 0.500, so that's an appropriate ending.
