I can't believe that that DJ is starting AND leading off. Unless he worked the entire night on his baserunning, this is unacceptable.

Someone should figure out how many sox are under the real mendoza line (.215), I bet it's a lot

Yeah, I just saw hitter #2 Rowand, and figured DJ was benched. I was so proud. Then, I went to ESPN to see the lineups, and went crazy. No Frank? DJ leading off?

UGH! It's not like this is important to win a division or anything.

I will give the benefit of the doubt that this is a day game after a night game lineup.

There is just something so disheartening about Hawk these days. He seems so sad. I guess I would be too having to travel and broadcast these idiots ballgames. Doesn't even sound hopeful on deep fly balls anymore. Bad times.

Great solid single by Rowand. 2-0 Sox, Bottom 3.

There's no way this lead is gonna hold. We need more runs, but it was great that it all came with two outs and started with the bottom of the order and was furthered by some people who we have been chewing out lately

Further proof that Hawk needs to retire. It's his job to keep fans interested, to keep them watching. He is boring as hell. Ratings = advertising dollars.

Huh?!?!?!? Take last night's game for instance. Twins are making their comeback and there is total silence coming from the booth. This happens all the time. Hawk is definetely not the best part of the telecasts.

I have to agree with Dusty. I've always loved Hawk, mainly because of how much he cares. I think he's so frustrated with the way they are playing, which shows how much he really cares. Just a matter of opinion mainly, but I think he's great.

It's total silence because they probably pressed the sneeze button and were swearing mad. I think the silence is great. This isn't radio.

Well, look around the league. Buy MLB.tv or DirecTV and listen to other teams. Fresh faces include people like Josh Lewin doing Rangers games or Thom Brennemen doing Diamondbacks games. There are two 12 year olds who do Rays games. It's not exciting to listen to these guys. The old greats are the respected enjoyed announcers, and Hawk is not one of them yet, but could be...why change things like that? I don't need a 12 year old announcer like the Rays.

soxfan45
06-26-2003, 02:14 PM
Come on...the Hawk has to watch this terrible product on the field, how could one who has to watch it everyday not get tired of it. I don't blame him for not saying anything....what is he suppossed to say when he is angry at lack of execution.

Actually, I think its great that DJ will rip some of these bums
cause' the Hawk won't do it in deference to his friendship with Jerry R.

When I first posted about Hawk I didn't mean I didn't love the guy. He has always been one of my favorite things about the White Sox. He wears his heart on his sleeve about this team. I've just noticed that he hasn't been the same the last couple of seasons. Especially since Tom Paciorek left. He's had to carry the broadcast more because DJ sucks. He just doesn't seem the same anymore.

the tension between hawk and dj in the booth is the best part about watching this team. they care so much and take the losses about as hard as i do. sure there are uncomfortable silences, but it is better than them swearing and breaking things (which is what i do) after another d'angelo mental gaffe.

I am at work listening to the game. Ed is ripping the heck out of the official scorer for scoring the Twins with two hits. He thinks both should be errors giving Burhle a no hitter. A surly Ed Farmer is very entertaining.

so if we knew how to play fundamental baseball, we would have swept the Twins and Cubs, and taken at least 3 of 4 from the Red Sox in the last week and a half. our lack of fundamental play is why we arent capable of going on a streak like the DBacks. We have the pitching and the hitting is coming around, but we just make stupid plays over and over.
