View Full Version : Williams calls it quits

Matt Williams retired today. I guess he talked to several teams, but decided to hang up his cleats instead after no deal was made. He had 378 career homeruns and was the last of the original D-Backs. He was going to retire anyways at the end of the season, but his release just sped up the process. I always like Williams and I wish him the best.

Williams retired because he didn't want to leave his family. He decided that since they were home in Arizona it just wasn't worth moving and playing anymore.

I don't think he fully wanted to quit, but felt it was the best for his family. I'm sure the Cubs or Dodgers would of signed him for the minimum with the Dbacks paying the rest.
