Are you going to jump on the chance the Sox/Cubs series presents to make fun of Sammy. They could have something similar to Disco Demolition. Every fan who brings a cork to a game gets something. Or for every cork collected the Sox will donate $1 to White Sox charities. Or team up with some wine company and for every cork you get a coupon to buy wine, or get one of those mini bottles.

By the end of the weekend you could show all the cork collected in a pile. That would surely get some exposure.

Great idea, but do you really expect Rob Gallas to do anything clever?? The only things he thinks about are raising parking prices and getting rid of the ball girls.

I have alot of probs with sox marketing, for ex not marketing this series in remembrance of the 1917 champs

with regards to your idea, I like it but sox are not mean spirited unlike da coob who blamed, without proof, that it was a sox fan that killed the ivy. Just like now they are blaming yankee fans for throwing corks on the field without proof(though I wouldn't put past yankee fans for doing something like that)

?????? Are you out of your mind? Aren't we looking bad enough
with the morons that run out onto the field and you want to let
people in for a buck?

Besides, the Trib and other media jumped all over Mark Grace
for having the absolute temerity to blaspheme Sammy, led by
Mr. Thin Skin himself, Dusty Baker. Imagine what it would be
like if the direct competition got into the act. As it is, Sosa is
going to be taunted at the Cell about the cork and the Trib
is going to play it up big, portraying the fans as heartless, jea-
lous, frustrated monsters. The White Sox getting into the act
will only make it worse.

There's nothing wrong for the franchise to jump in on it. Does anyone remember the ad that the Blue Jays placed in the paper before the Yankees went to Toronto. It was a Yankees hat with bird crap all over. I forgot what the punchline was, but at least they had the stones to do it.

Tommy John, talk about taking a guy out of context. Did you even read the whole post?

Ooooooooooooops. My face is as red as the Dick Allen era pin-
stripes. I saw "Disco Demolition" and $1 and thought that the post said let people with corks in for a buck. I am very sorry.
I should've paid attention to the whole post. Sorry, 34.

However, I do stand by my statement that if the Sox tried in
any way to make light of the situation, Dusty, Sammy and
the Trib, amongst others, would portray the Sox and their fans
as cruel meanies for picking on Sammy. Of that I have no doubt.

Those New Commercials "gets in your blood" are pretty Clever.
I actually feel like theyre interviewing real sox fans, which is
what they should be going after. There are a lot of us
that are just like those Characters in those commercials.
Im the first guy to Light Up someone in the Sox for doing/saying something stupid.

Interesting idea. Too bad JR hasn't thought of that one yet. Instead we get Elvis Night and Dog Day.

Bid deal.
