Talk about wanting to light a fire under someones' ass. Our own manager repeatedly commenting on his own ability. Whatever happened to best man for the job, if he don't think he can do it, get him the hell out. I want someone in there with a backbone and confidence.

Jerry Manuel said before the game that he hoped the players, not the managers, would determine the outcome Tuesday night.

The White Sox manager said if it came down to a battle of wits between him and his mentor, Giants manager Felipe Alou, "he'd probably win that battle."

alou is his mentor too. its like an nba player complimenting jordan before a game. its more about respect than being honest.

i wasn't crazy about gordon pitching the 7th tonight and then marte pitching only one inning but otherwise manuel completely outmanaged alou tonight. alou used 5 relievers to get through 3 innings in a loss in the first game of the series. not a good move.
