From the Winston-Salem Warthogs Web Site:

June 8, 2003: Winston-Salem, NC

A Carolina League high five Winston-Salem Warthogs were named to the Carolina League mid-season All-Star team on Sunday. Ruddy Yan will be the starting second baseman. Jeremy Reed will be a starting outfielder. Ryan Meaux, Kris Honel, and Ryan Wing will represent the Warthogs’ pitching staff. The Carolina/California League All-Star game will be played on June 24th at Rancho Cucamonga, California, the advanced A affiliate of the Anaheim Angles.

Yan has had a Carolina League high 21 game hitting streak this season. Reed has twice been named Carolina League Hitter of the week. Wing’s ERA of 1.76 ranks him second in the Carolina League. Meaux is one of the top relievers in the league. Honel is tied for the league lead with three complete games.

Didn't Yan start off as a shortstop?

Already my pants are going crazy in anticipation of the 2006 Chicago White Sox.

Better say a prayer (actually LOTS of 'em!) that Kenny doesn't trade 'em all away. It seems like his only goal is to develop young talent, then trade it all away for no talent.

He was also acquired in the Marte trade, IIRC (one of the Pittsburg deals), and at the time of the trade was listed as a SS. However, he has been a 2B from the first day he played pro ball. He doesn't have the arm for SS.

I'm still trying to figure out why Yan and Reed aren't in AA given the Barons have no positional talent whatsoever.
