I have been a fan for over fifty years. It seems that ever since
that infamous 1919 year we have been snakebitten as a baseball
team. We always seem to be behind somebody else in the
standings. With exception of the great 1959 team led by Nellie
Fox and company. We just cannot get to the series. I have been
wondering if someone could provide me with statistics on how
many times we have finished second, and third in the years from
that disasterous time in our teams history.

I lived there for a couple of years while I was stationed at Fort Bragg near Fayetteville. I've flown into Charlotte plenty of times, and have come to appreciate the atmosphere of the state. I wouldn't mind going back there to visit.

Anyway, here's a link to the all-time standings for the Sox. (http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHW/)

Thank you so much for the information. I have always been interested in this era of baseball, and how we are doing now
compared to that time in our history.

Welcome to WSI. :redneck

I'm not sure how many times the Sox have finished second or third, but you can add them up yourself following this link.

Here are the unhappy totals. (http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHW/)

Surprise, surprise. The Sox manage to finish higher in the standings as the number of teams they compete against becomes fewer and fewer. Only the Washington Senators were keeping the Sox out of eighth place in the 20's and 30's.

Why am I sure somebody will point to these numbers and attempt to defend Jerry Reinsdorf? Clueless, I'm telling you. Clueless...
