Vina out at least six weeks (http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/stl/news/stl_news.jsp?ymd=20030526&content_id=338553&vkey=news_stl&fext=.jsp&c_id=sln)

Seems that the Sox might have a 2nd baseman that the Cards could possibly use - Miles, Jimenez, Valentin, Tim Hummel. Would you trade anyone of these guys? Is there anyone that we'd want in return?

Valentin for sure, they obviously have Hummell lowered on their depth chart. If he wasnt disabled, I'd unload Harris, a real second baseman. How about Graffanino? He'd bring some real value.

St. Louis is maxed out payroll. They're not going take on Valentin's salary unless they dump some payroll off.

On a side note, today the Cards traded for Estaban Yan from Texas for an underachieving minor league outfilder. We could've sent Rick White back or gave them Gordon for a prospect.

Trade Garland and Graffanino for JD Drew

That's a lot for another can't miss kid who hasn't quite hit it off like Drew.

I was thinking...

Konerko = Bench
Thomas = 1B
Lee = DH
Ordonez = LF
Drew = RF
Borchard = CF

Maybe they'd throw in Ankiel. Maybe he just needs a change of scenery?

my thinking is you trade burly mon now --maybe the rangers will part with carl everett---buehrle is gone when hes a free agent anyway---move Lee to 1b or DH and trade Konerko for a starter

All this Buehrle trade talk is retarded. He's here 'til what, 2006? More than likely there will be a fire sale in '06, trade him then.

Exactly. Trade him now while
1) He's pitching 'well' (he could suck by then)
2) He's got 2.5 years left on contract. We aren't going to get as much if teams know that he's a FA at end of year and that he won't resign with Sox (i.e. pressure's on us to trade him).

This team's going nowhere this year or next...so stock up the minors in areas where we suck (i.e. everywhere but pitching).

Why the hell would anybody want to trade Mark Buerhle now? His value is as low as it will ever be in his career. He'll be in a Sox uni for a long time, so get used to it.

On the trade for a second baseman (Valentine, Graffanino, ...), do the Cards have a player or two in their minor league system that we might want (and they'd be willing to give up). I know it seems early to be talking this way, but the way we've been playing ...

Wasn't there trade rumor talk last week about Vina for Roberto Alomar? .......oh well :(:

At a party this past weekend the concensus was that Colon would end up a Cardinal before the season is over.

Better the Cards than the Yanks. That way we can watch him beat up on the Cubbies.
