You've seen Mitch Maier play, right? Is he really, really bad defensively?

No he isn't,he doesn't have the arm that Olivo does,but he does have a strong upside,and his arm is aided by being quick to get a throw off.There can be arguments made about his skills,but that can be said for any young catcher,it is not a position that is emphasized on the HS or college level,they would rather turn guys that can hit into left feilders,the days of pure catchers at those levels of baseball may be long gone.Mitch is worth drafting and bringing along,he has all the tools to be a big league catcher.

If he is there with the Sox' second round pick, I would take him if nobody else out there blows you away. He is not worth a mid-first round pick. If the Sox take him in the first round, I might jump off a cliff. They'd be better taking Tony Richie again in the second or third round.
