Kannapolis: The Intimidators lost 4-3 to Hagerstown in the 12th inning. Kannapolis' record stands at 16 - 13. Pitcher Paulino Reynoso started for the Intimidators but did not factor in the decision allowing two unearned runs on just two hits in four innings of work walking six and striking out four. Todd Deininger was solid in middle relief retiring 12-of-13 batters faced in four innings while striking out three. Josh Rupe (1-1) took the loss, his first of the season giving up two runs in two innings of work. Jeremy Schmidt (1-0) earned his first win allowing one run on two hits in one inning of work. (Report from the Intimidators' website)

Winston-Salem: I attended this one, which was a good game, just didn't end right. Wyatt Allen gave up two runs on two hits during his 6 innings of work. The Wilmington Blue Rocks scored the winning run in the 9th off Josh Fields. The final score was 3 - 2. The Warthogs are now 15 - 11. The Blue Rocks are the Carolina League affiliate of the Royals. Kansas City loads this team up year after year. Fans in Winston-Salem are not too fond of this team (putting it mildly!).

Birmingham: The Barons defeated the Orlando Rays today, 7 - 3. Pacheco and Eason pitched, Pacheco giving up 6 hits and 3 runs in his 6 innings of work. Chad Durham went 4 for 6, with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Hankins, Ingram, and Alvarez had two hits each, with a total of 14 hits for the Barons.

Charlotte: Mario Valenzuela extended his hitting streak to 8 games, but the Knights could not stop Rochester today. The Red Wings came from behind to defeat the Knights 3 - 2. Brian Cooper (4-2) was the hard luck loser for Charlotte, allowing five hits and three earned runs in seven innings of work. Aaron Miles was the brightest spot in the Knights' lineup, with multiple hits including a solo home run in the 3rd. This extended his hitting streak for the season to 9 games.

Munoz pitched well in relief, giving up no hits and striking out 3.

Glad to see that Arnaldo is starting to put things back together after a horrific start.
