North Siders Should be Outraged!!!

This prospect is probably flying below the radar screen and hasn't been "annointed" yet, but it appears he may have hit a snag in his development.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- A minor league pitcher might face animal cruelty charges for injuring a protected bird with a thrown baseball.

Jae-kuk Ryu, a 19-year-old South Korean pitcher for the Class-A Daytona Cubs, knocked an osprey from its perch during pregame practice Monday night. The male bird sustained a serious eye injury.

First Ben Christiansen and now this guy? What is it with the Scrubs minor pitchers and throwing at eyes?

Scrubie animal cruelty (http://espn.go.com/minorlbb/news/2003/0423/1543493.html)

Of course this is the last you'll hear of it. It will get hidden with the rest of the Cubbie 'black eyes' by the local media.

Really? PETA is aware that Hamburg, N.Y. is named after the city in Germany, and not the meat, right?

The story I heard was that this was where the hamburger was first made. The town offical than says, this is classic, "They should have bigger fish to fry.....oh, I hope they don't touch our fish fry."

It sounded like something from the Onion.

Opreys are not as common as pidgeons or crows. IIRC at one time they were endangered.

I'm no animals rights activist or anything, but it's not cool to attempt to kill or injure bird just for the thrill of it. It might sound silly, if you don't appreciate birds (and birds like osprey), but this guy deserves every bit of punishment he gets.
