Warthogs win 8-3 on Monday
The Winston-Salem Warthogs broke up a scoreless tie in the fifth with three runs and cruised to an 8-3 win over Potomac on Monday. Byeong An earned his second win in three starts. An gave up only one run on six hits in six and two-thirds innings. Daylan Childress for Potomac was tabbed with his fourth straight loss to begin the season.

Brian Becker cranked his team leading fourth homer out to left to make it 4-0 in the sixth. Up 4-1 in the seventh the Warthogs scored four more runs to cap their scoring. Ruddy Yan walked and went to second on Mike Spidale's single to left. Jeremy Reed sacrificed the runners to second and third. Daylan Holt singled up the middle to score Yan and Spidale. Eric Welsh then drilled a pitch off Cannon's reliever Casey Dehart off the scoreboard in right making the score 8-1. The Cannons added two runs in the top of the ninth when Mike Calitri hit a two run homer.

Both Charlotte and Kannapolis were rained out. Kannapolis had their game suspended in the 3rd inning, while Charlotte never played.

Be sure to keep an eye on Brian Becker with the Hogs. He's an older guy who previously was with the Devil Rays. He was on the Orlando AA team that won the SL championship a few years ago. This guy can REALLY hit. I'm sure he'll be moving on up to the Barons soon.
