"This is where the 'business' of baseball stops and the 'playing' of baseball begins."

There is a sign hanging in the Sox locker room that says exactly that. Kinda like Notre Dame Football's "Play like a champion today" sign.

Isnt that just the amount of season tickets sold??

It has to be close. Maybe a few mopes who took the whole opening series in a 7 game package (but why?!??), but 14,514 has got to be darn close to the season base number, IMO.

Good news all around. IIRC, It was 8K in 1999. Now the Sox better win some games so they can keep some of these AS glom fans around next year...

I asked at the open house what the season ticket base was and the Sox official told me about 11,500 up about 20 % from last year.

Advance ticket sales is the only way to get good attendance numbers. Be it through season tickets or single game sales.

Walk up crowds can be decent at times and may show fan enthusiasm but they are not consistent enough to be counted on.
